Kinda he doesn't wanna learn tech for whatever reason and then complains that he won't be able to beat anyone if he doesn't learn. I think it will take a little while until he starts improving he needs motivation.

Tell him that I've lost 5 money matches in a row against Hamlin, all of which I went into the match knowing I'd lose. I've gotten significantly better because of it, though, You'll only improve if you play people that are better than you.
