  • Well ZSS is pretty good at being safe on shield (dsmash, sideB and bair are all safe on shield) so a shield-happy opponent usually ends up taking a lot of shield damage, and then they don't shield as much.
If your opponent is shielding in front of you, it's very important to zone yourself so that you're out of their grab range. Similarly, identifying their shielding/rolling/spotdodging habits is important because it helps you land punishes that will make victory much easier.
A great situation to be in is BEHIND your opponent's shield, unless you're up against a character like Marth, Diddy or TL that have good OoS options in that situation (DB1, glidetoss and sh bair respectively).
Sometimes you just need to be patient. Remember that you don't always have to hit your opponent; you can just wait and see what they do when you're in their comfort zone and punish accordingly, or maybe not even punish at all. Just putting yourself in that situation even when dealing 0 damage can be useful because you gain knowledge of what they do in certain situations, and that knowledge will help you later on.
Remember; you have 8 damn minutes. Wasting 2 or 3 seconds like that isn't going to make a big difference, most matches last around 4 or 5 minutes anyway.
Some moves are very unsafe on shield (eg Snake's ftilt2, MK's ftilt3) so you can shieldgrab those.
    Predictable landings can be grabbed.
Some people like to approach by running up and shielding, you can grab them right out of that.
Crossups are good; sometimes you can just run behind your opponent and pivot grab them as an approach XD
If you're comboing your opponent and you pretty much have all the momentum it's likely that your opponent is going to be trying to shield, so you can throw in some grabs then.
It's just that, I love to learn about the Falco metagame.

From larry himself to trash *** Bleachigo, i've been studying for the past 2 years. and dispite that, the things you post things I don't know about the falco metagame most f the time. It's really cool.
SOREN VI BRITANNIA!!! Sup mah duu! :3

How was that Smashfest you went to the other day? Get in some good MK/Snake practice? :)
    I'm guessing... Soren?

It's been good lol. Before Brawl, I played Melee but never did I play it consistently to get good so here I am, trying to consistently play again. I really hope e4J: champion has enough Melee entrants (and setups) so that it can actually happen.

Did you happen to see me posting on the Smash 4 thread? xD
haha its all good man we were both just debating our view points no hard feelings.
Hey, we teaming tomorrow? I got ride and **** to the tourney, so just text me with what's going down.

I don't know where or when it's at. So please let me know :)

Hello, I've created the smash lab skype group. If you'd like to join in then if you'd please give my your skype name (or you can send me a contact request if you wish, my skype name is "guest438").

If not, then sorry for bothering you. >.<
I really like your icon, is there a way I can find a bigger picture of it?
I'll start off by asking this:

Did Orion actually place well in NY either before or after his trip to Europe? Did he have any notable achievements before or after EU?
It's fine. It's refreshing compared to a lot of mindless posts made these days.

I'm not entirely sure what your first paragraph means though.

Also, with powershield canceling and other such easier defensive maneuvers that reward defense it simply seems as though Brawl just tends to favor those who play campier and I don't enjoy that. Kadaj himself told me that he would do better because he stopped playing flashy(which to him probably means approaching lol) and played gayer. He was significantly more difficult to fight once that switch in mentality was made for him.

I don't share that optimism about the Marth MK matchup and Kadaj shouldn't either as he loses to a MK(Sushi-Man) in our state that plays the matchup very defensively by a large margin.
Brawl's fun and all but everyone plays soooo gay now. =( I dunno I would consider playing again though if I had better people to train with. Today I came up with more cool ideas on the spot and 2/3 stocked Twitch's Diddy over and over(not that that actually means much but it was decently better than I was doing yesterday). I'd just need more training and ways to learn to adapt to people.

And I appreciate that, but surely the Marth metagame is doing well with lots of input from players such as Mikehaze, Havok, Kadaj, and Mr. R, right?
    sometimes I gimp snakes too

but nah when I played more Brawl and took it more seriously I entered. I'm not too interested in the game right now but NC wants me to play again, and I play with Twitch somewhat regularly.
Diddy might not always have a chance to pull out bananas if his opponent is always after him so if you can play a nanerless Diddy, you can still fight someone without bananas. Then you can pull them out when you have thrown him off stage or something
    PokeOrion@aol - aim
    PokeOrion@msn - msn
    PokeOrion - skype

    PokeOrion = everything :D
Depending on how much practice I can get in to fix my techskill issues and such.

    I see me getting PR'd.

Because apparently TKD was like x10000 time better than I gave him credit for if people are expecting him to possibly win MLG Dallas....

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.. WHYYYYY DID I HAVE TO LOSE THAT SET DUE TO STUPID TECHNICAL ERRORS AND LACK OF MIXUP GAME

    :nifty::leek:
    My "Let's Play" Channel (click)

Just wanted to let you know about my Let's Play series I've got going on. Basically, I play blind playthroughs of video games you guys request and that's it. :bee:

I'm currently playing Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) and Yoshi's Island (SNES) and I've already finished a Mega Man 10 (Wii) LP as well.

Just want to invite you in on the fun if you haven't heard about it. If you like the videos definitely SUBSCRIBE to my channel and post on my wall so we can discuss what other kinds of games you'd like to watch me play!

Thanks for the support. Spread the word!
    sounds epic

well I hope we can meet at a tournament, I personally love fighting snake, I'm not a fan of money matches (since I don't really have ways of replenishing my money) but would you mind doing serious friendlies? I'd be FeSoren at a tournament.
I moved, and now I have a way back into the Smash Scene. I left the scene, so I left the boards. Now I'm back, so I'm back.

Very prominent? Go check my signature, haha. I was their leader (Ally was their master... difference). I made the boards go from dead to active, discovered and motivated others to discover countless amounts of information and started shoving his metagame ahead until I couldn't figure out any other way to do so.

Now I'm back at it again, this time using frame data and a few things I researched and theorycrafted on my year hiatus.
