  • Mango is a good friend of mine. We're teaming again at Genesis. <3 Mango

Right now, all the hype is on P:M. I may or may not care, as I like the project, but dislike L-Canceling.

I'll look into BB again later, but at the moment, I'm training in just regular Brawl. Seeing as I just came out of a hiatus, I have a lot of catching up to do.
Even if you're not great at the game, I think you analyze balance decisions well, and some of the responses to your well-thought-out and honest criticisms were kind of obnoxious. I figured that if I didn't say anything, people would continue to unjustly write you off as a nut.
Haha! It was great to meet you too. I will probably get more active in the smash scene, at least until work starts to get busy again.
Oh well, it's all about the girl in armor, even though she's a necromancer, she's a warrior for sure for being strong. =P
Don't you live in Santa Barbara? Schooling there?

Anyways I agree. 310 is in SB isn't it? I don't know...I would have to take the metrolink there; I've done that before...the thing is...heh, I don't see myself traveling to play smash for at least two more years lol.
I could have sworn I do it on reaction to the flash, I guess it's just hard reading without me being aware of it.
"You mostly can't FLUDD his SideB on reaction"

I beg to differ, I've done it quite frequently, the flash in the starting animation is a dead giveaway when he's off the stage, and FLUDD behaves like a wall to it, similar to how Snake's C4 recovery behaves like it hits a ceiling when it comes in contact with FLUDD.
I just noticed that you said Falco is a far worse matchup than Olimar, why is that? I find it to be the easiest of the top tier matchups for Mario. Falco is the easiset of them to gimp (after an Olimar that actually lets you get them off the stage), since Mario has three reliable counters to his Up B [as well as most of his aerials], and Side B gets totally killed by FLUDD. Thanks to the cape, lasers are non-threating and unless you get chain-grabbed, it will take forever for him to kill you.
    My "Let's Play" Channel (click)

Just wanted to let you know about my Let's Play series I've got going on. Basically, I play blind playthroughs of video games you guys request and that's it. :bee:

I'm currently playing Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) and Yoshi's Island (SNES) and I've already finished a Mega Man 10 (Wii) LP as well.

Just want to invite you in on the fun if you haven't heard about it. If you like the videos definitely subscribe to my channel and post on my wall so we can discuss what other kinds of games you'd like to watch me play!

Thanks for the support. Don't forget to spread the word.
Hey, AZ I was doing some fiddling around with Mario, and it looks like he has a Ground Release Jab (only the first hit, is guaranteed) on some characters (it seemed to work on Mario, and Bowser.)

Do you think this is legit? Or is there a spot where they can buffer a shield or a dodge?

I mean if it's true we can get Jab1-> Dsmash guaranteed from a grab. Unless they Air Break, but that resets the situation so its no loss really.

EDIT: Nevermind...they can Powershield the first Jab, well that sucks :(.
10-4. It will probably only be around 15 minutes if we're just talking about/doing tactical research, more if we actually battle.
    Hey, A2.
    I've got a question:

If I Use Dair to cancel Upwards Momentum, from let's say Snake's Utilt, do I Auto Fast Fall with that single C-stick down-input?
Hey A2Z, later this week, I was wondering if we could go on wifi, I had some stage tactic ideas, I want to show you. (To see if they have any use in regular play, maybe there could be some benefits for us Mario mains on stages that we haven't uncovered yet? Brinstar is one of the stages that Mario might have an easier time on with one of my strategy thoughts)
Hey...i was wondering if you could give me a few ideas on how to change the melee mario boards to make it look better. some of the threads could be changed and things like that but what can we change/add too the mario boards.
There really needs to be some thread to "suggest" testing material for the SL. =|

Any possibility you could help me out? I'm asking a few Researchers for help personally, because I feel that information is pretty **** important compared to the "mechanics" of certain AT's.
how do you feel about marth when you're playing mario? I have a pocket mario and in some ways marth seems easier to deal with, though harder to actually hit than ganon. Like, you have to stay a certain distance away and wait for an opening on both, but if i play against ganon i feel like i fall into things more. Yet I still think marth is a harder match up overall. Well, like i said earlier, i'm bias, i play a **** ton of characters and only really one at a tournament savvy level(dark lord), my falco is extremely hit or miss in tournament
Wow, thanks for that glowing comment, that made my day man. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also happen to be the one responsible for making PS2 a starter in my region. :D
Weight KB: All characters have an internal weight value that comes into effect with weight-dependent throws(i.e., Falcons DThrow, etc.), and also take effect when the game calculates KB. There are weight groups, however, meaning that not each character has a unique weight. READ: WEIGHT != FALLING SPEED Weight is a character's "resistance" to knockback, and so in weight KB weight is taken into account. So like, Lucario and Ivysaur both have a weight value of 1, so they are what you start with when calculating throw frame data. They also both take the same amount of knockback in duplicate environments. As opposed to, say Bowser, who has a higher weight value, and so take Falcon longer to throw, or Jigglypuff, who has a lower weight value, and who is thrown quicker.

Base is basically the KB dealt at 0% on someone with a weight modifier of 1. It can also apply to set KB, like in the weak hit of ROB's UTilt. I think. :p

Growth is simply increase in KB relative to opponent %.
Yeah I've been doing stuff for minus recently. I've always had random ideas/thoughts about how I'd balance things and revamp movesets for smash and other games. Apparently I'm pretty good at hehe, so I got into the Broom. I'm decent at PSA so that didn't hurt my chances either. Anyways, I'm responsible for the 1.6 changes DK got and aside from that I do a bit of everything. I'd like to hear your thoughts on Mario, Ganon, and anyone else you think you have some insight on.

Regarding BBrawl, have there been any side events with it in SoCal tourneys? I never really heard anything about it. The lack of hype is pretty disappointing, but it's good to know people still do play it. I haven't really been active in Brawl for a while before I started working on minus. SF2HDR kinda replaced smash since it had functional online lol. Now that I miss Brawl/feel like playing again I might start going to tourneys again. Maybe I'll see you around at one.
    i knew it!!!
i knew you would become a smash researcher one day xD
congratulations man :) hope you and the mario boards still remember me :p
Also, apparently, when they fix your Wii, you get a new Brawl Friend Code.

    ???

    My new one is 3954-2333-3840.
Lol, that new Spiderman game came out today and my roommate has been waiting for it for months now.

... So no. I need to unlock all the stages anyway.
Well, I mean, I just learned it overtime playing with them.

Go to training mode, spawn bananas, **** around. 15 minutes a day. Throw them up with your eyes closed and try to jump and catch with your eyes closed. Practice Glide-Tossing. Practice Instant throwing. Use Smoke Balls since they bounce, etc.

Just practice. Not a lot, just a little a day. Then it will become muscle memory like everything else.
