I think there is reason to worry, but not panic like I’ve been seeing so much of. Even with all the advances in AI as of late, nothing beats a handmade (as in made by a human) drawing or other art piece.

Plus, most of the solutions I’ve seen to counter AI art would negatively impact creators, which helps no one.

FazDude FazDude Well, I did say there was not much to worry, to the point of panic, anyway.

So, this is about art? Because using AI to draw, if that is how it works, is no excuse for the laziness that is not actually drawing or painting something by oneself.

The focus of all the concern is the art piece - AI writing is also being talked about, but not to the same extent.

AI writing? As a writer, I don't mean to sound arrogant when saying this, but yeah; don't make me laugh! I can write much better than any AI writer could ever even try.

I think the problem is not the quality of AI-produced creative content. Most artists are concerned about 1. AI art can be considered plagiarism but since they steal from multiple works instead of a single one, they can get scot-free. 2. Even if they are low quality, producing large amounts of art for a low price can potentially cause corporates to prefer AI art over human-made art, making it harder for people to find jobs.

I don't think AI art/writing is inherently bad but like every new technology, there are quite a few unethical applications of it and this is enough reason to worry until/if it gets regulated.

osby osby Yeah, that's the main concern. However, I do think regulation of AI art needs to be handled very carefully. One of the biggest pushes for AI regulation I've seen would actually give corporations the ability to shut down any fanworks in the process, which... yeah, not the optimal solution.

osby osby And for every new technology, there will be people complaining about it with some unfounded fears and exaggerated panic, if it does not hurt to point that out.

But you do have good points, especially, but not limited to the part where you said it could make it harder for people to find jobs. In my opinion, AI doing art is no replacement for human made art. I am personally more worried about skills related to art done by humans themselves becoming extinct; just like how many languages have become extinct. We don't want that to happen now, do we?

art is supposed to make you feel something. an artist put's their feelings into it. things that can't feel can't make art

Exactly, fogbadge! How can you make art if you don't feel anything, anyways? I don't think AI is developed enough to feel emotion anyway.
