  • I always thought Cell would be more interesting in DBFZ if he had a system where he slowly gains his perfect form by absorbing his two teammates, but at the same time, I imagine it would be impractical in practice.
There was a problem fetching the tweet
    For me:

I may as well take a stab at a pass I think is moreso "feasible" given today's climate, given my "personal favourites" would pretty much change every 20 minutes. Note that one of the first things they'll point out is that it's not supposed to overshadow Sora's inclusion, and I think the pass might be anticlimatic almost by design. However, there'll still be some fan-favourites, as well as a couple of unorthodox picks.
    1. Dr. Eggman, mostly to say "we mean business" following Sora - but also to promote the recent releases of both Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers. It's a good time for Eggman, and he's got plenty of moveset potential that far better thinkers than me have explained before in detail. Honestly, just a solid pick all around.
    2. E.M.M.I. E.M.M.I over Raven Beak might seem like an odd choice given it's now been almost two years since Metroid: Dread released, but my key point here is marketing. You wouldn't want to spoil the surprise villain of a game through particularly prominent showcasing of this type through Smash DLC - even Sephiroth is from a 20+ year old game. Not only that, but there's a lot of room for E.M.M.I to act as a really unique fighter, having deliberately unsettling animations and the like, and could pull from the various E.M.M.I's seen throughout the game. Not only that, but it's good cross-promotion for the recent release of Metroid Prime: Remastered.
    3. Meowscarada, given the fact that they're an evolved starter and a Grass-type, plus they have a reasonably humanoid skeleton and can likely take inspiration from various magicians and "tricksters". Whilst they seem to be the most reasonable Gen IX Pokémon to me, I'd also like to point out that Miraidon or Koraidon are also solid picks given they're prominent box-art legendaries, and also that either Quaquaval, Palafin or Tinkerton would be very cool too. Note that they're not the first pick given I think they'll want to promote some kind of Scarlet & Violet DLC or something by this time, so it'd be good for cross-promotion.
    4. Ryu Hayabusa, mostly because of Nintendo's good rapport with Koei-Tecmo and also being an opportunity to promote the (reasonably) recent release of the Sigma collection. Not only that, but the Ninja Gaiden has a good history with Nintendo as a whole, and I think representing both his older and newer self could be a good call. Perhaps controversially, his moveset would pull both from the classic games and from the reboot series, as opposed to being a more accurate interpretation of his NES self like Simon is. Hayabusa won't be presented as a "retro rep" necessarily, but a new third-party inclusion as one of the first pass pick indicates a strong start. Also, they might use this as an opportunity to give a wink and a nod to the Switch Online service.
    5. Chun-Li, a third fighter from the Street Fighter series mostly picked as a promotional tool for Street Fighter 6 (and as a means of representing more than just Street Fighter 2.) She's mostly picked due to a good relationship between Nintendo and Capcom as well as solid Nintendo history, as well as being a prominent and interesting female character with some historical importance, and still being a relevant and prominent character in her series to this day. She's cool, and whilst she might not be equivalent to Sora by any means, she's still a good place to end off on.
I did consider Crash, but given the legal difficulties surrounding who owns him at the moment, I don't think it's likely that Nintendo would want to get involved in that whole thing. Similarly, I've avoided too much Microsoft representation for the same reason. I'm sure the inclusion of not just one, but two, first-party characters might come across as a bit disappointing, but I think this would be a solid mix of realistic and attainable characters that would still be fun to both play and represent.

    1. Centipede [Along with general Atari representation]
    2. Rhythm Girl (Rhythm Heaven) [Last big Nintendo series not playable, as far as I can tell]
    3. Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik (Sonic) [I agree, he’d be really fun]
    4. Master Chief (Halo)
    5. Kratos (God of War)
This is what I’m feeling right now.
I was just thinking back to when Hellena Taylor claimed that the Bayonetta franchise was worth around $450 million, but today I just figured out why that makes no sense.

Bayonetta 1 sold around 1.35 million units as of March 2010, whereas Bayonetta 2 sold around 50,000 units for the Wii U version and 1.04 million units for the Switch version, totaling up to around 1.54 million units across both versions.

That altogether makes 2.89, or less than three million units. Assuming both games were $60 when they came out, that makes around $173.4 million, which is still only about 1/3 of what Taylor said the franchise was worth.
Anyone else having problems on their phones where auto correct capitalizes words for no reason?
I don't want to sound like I'm pointing fingers, but I do admittedly get a bit sad when I present potentially interesting concepts to creation threads, but I rarely present one that gets that much attention.
My thoughts exactly. I mean, come on; you have a Mario RPG that crosses over both Mario RPG’s, yet can’t even muster cameos from the original characters from the respective universes?

EDIT: Okay, so I originally thought Tanabe was the reason this didn’t happen, considering how Sticker Star ended up, but it turns out it’s because the devs couldn’t find ways to squeeze them into the story, which is fair…but then in that case, they should’ve written a story and setting they can more easily fit into. Maybe something themed around fairy tales, since the Paper Mario world takes place in a book?
While I do like Ultimate in a lot of areas, I feel like the lack of proper replay value was out of a desire to gear Ultimate towards the competitive scene, but like…I feel like there should be more of a balance between that and the more casual side. Makes me appreciate Street Fighter 6 even more.
Alright, I just finished a list of missing Spirits (warning: lots of spoiler tags)

Random thought: what if SSBU brought back some of the SSE stages, but only for Spirit Battles? Namely:
    • Midair Stadium
    • The Lake (The stage at the end where you fight False Bowser)
    • The Forest
    • The Lake Shore (The first section)
    • The Swamp (The last section)
    • The Canyon
If these stages being locked behind Spirit Battles doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can unlock them as extra normal stages by completing WoL and getting any ending.
Not necessarily a creation thread, again, but I wanted to promote it here
