Nintendo (having a semi-functional online storefront system for around 10 years for their older consoles that, whilst flawed in its own ways, only needed a couple of minor improvements to become ideal) when people speculate about that exact form of storefront moving to the Switch:

I feel like most people would agree with you there. Nintendo makes some dumb decisions some times; it feels like a step backwards from the Wii U or even the Wii, which was two console generations ago, and I gladly would have bought games like Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye, or a ton of SNES games separately for the Switch, especially if it meant that I could play them offline. (Super Metroid on the go? Yes, please!)

(I'd understand it if this was a more attractive option for third party companies, since they might be guaranteed to get a share of the profits without having to worry about whether their releases would sell, but some third party companies like Square-Enix or Konami have been ignoring it entirely, and saying that releases for the NES and SNES apps have slowed down to a crawl seems like an understatement)
