I feel that often times lists of "best game music" tend to just be "the best games and their best music" or "the best uses of music in video games" - like, if you could somehow listen to every game ever's soundtrack and then rank them isolated from their source material there'd be less Sonic or Final Fantasy and a lot more "Lindt Chocolate Bunnies' Puzzle Adventure for the GBC (Germany only)" or "Dunston Checks In: The Official Video Game for Amiga (unreleased, reskin of The Care Bears Movie 2 for NES)"
