I really hate the idea that game studios' mascots inherently have to be scrimblos and vice versa. I see this a lot with Mega Man and Rayman fans, where they assume that just because they're that company's cuddliest IP they must inherently be the mascot despite them never being used in that context. "Mascot" more means say, Sonic being on the startup of the Sega CD, Mario presenting Nintendo's finanical reports, Namco having a giant Pac-Man statue outside of their building, or hell, Gex being next to the Crystal Dynamics logo on the Legacy of Kain games' boxes. Actually representing the company.
