64: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus Aran, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Luigi, Ness, Captain Falcon
Melee: Peach, Bowser, Zelda, Ganondorf*, Mewtwo, Marth, Mr. Game & Watch
Brawl: Wario*, King Dedede, Pit, ROB, Snake, Sonic*
4: Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Shulk, Duck Hunt, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Cloud(?), Ryu(?)
Ultimate: Daisy*, Inkling, Ridley, K. Rool, Simon and/or Richter, Banjo & Kazooie(?), Terry, Steve/Alex, Sora(?)
* = Very changed up. Some others might get tweaked, but these would fairly different.
? = Even I'm uncertain.
Cloud/Sora because there could be other ways to represent Final Fantasy or even Disney.
Ryu because I'm unsure how much interesting I can do with that character at this point. You might even get a Darkstalkers character over him or something. I am indeed biased. Don't worry about it. It'd be weird if I added other fighting game characters and not him, though, I realize.
B&K would depend on whether I'm focusing on Nintendo mostly or video games as a whole.
This isn't to say that every single veteran who isn't on this would never be added, I would just prioritize these first, along with other ways to represent what some of the other veterans represent. Pokémon would have very different characters, for one thing, because of how much you can do with it. Fire Emblem, if it did get more, would not have another straight-forward sword-wielder. Maybe Robin could come back and mayyyyybeeee Ike, but I'd prefer adding an axe, lance, or other weapon kind of character, maybe someone on a horse. At least someone like Lyn who could also focus on bow-and-arrow wielding, perhaps. This is all very subjective, and I realize someone could be baffled at certain decisions.
