  • I realize I've been posting about it a lot, but my profile posts about Mighty Marvel Melee (the make-your-own Marvel Smash-like game) seem to be getting it more attention (either that or it's a coincidence), so I'll keep at it.

Either way, the thread is currently nominating playable street level characters. This can range from characters like Daredevil or Elektra to Luke Cage or Moon Knight to villains like Kingpin or Bullseye. (Not sure if Spider-Man's rogues gallery or characters like Hawkeye would qualify - they feel like gray areas) Still, there are plenty of options to choose from for this.
The Marvel platform fighter thread is currently submitting cosmic playable characters. This is the roster so far:

...and I'm pretty sure the only one that qualifies is Thanos (and maybe Captain Marvel), so anyone that is considered cosmic (space-based/focused) should be eligible.

(some of the pictures aren't the clearest at first glance, particularly Blade (who's beneath Rogue and above Nightcrawler) and Nico Minoru (who's between Doctor Doom and She-Hulk))
The Marvel platform fighter thread is currently nominating stages. Any stage is an option; here's the ones that are currently in the game:

    (the Spider-Man images are placeholders)

If any obvious picks feel like they're missing, then feel free to nominate them.

If you're not sure what to nominate and need a few ideas, you could go with:

-major landmarks like the Baxter Building (home of the Fantastic Four), Fisk Towers (Kingpin's base of operations), or one of the many headquarters of groups like the Hand, Hydra, or A.I.M.

-other countries like Latveria (home of Doctor Doom), Krakoa (a sentient island and current home of many of Earth's mutants), Madripoor (a lawless country where Wolverine occasionally runs a bar under the identity of "Patch"), or Slorenia (basically Sokovia from the movies, except Ultron was more successful there)

-otherworldly locations like Taa II (Galactus's world-ship), Avalon (an ancient magical realm from the Captain Britain comics), Skrullos (homeworld of the Skrulls), or Chandilar (the throneworld of the Shi'ar Empire).
Make preparations for mutant mayhem, because Mighty Marvel Melee (the message board thread for making the line-up for a Marvel-style Smash game) is currently nominating your favourite mutant model citizens, mercenaries, and miscreants!

Nominate such marvelous mutated magnates as Magik, Manifold, Marvel Girl (a.k.a. Jean Grey), Moira MacTaggert, Mister Sinister. Marrow (made famous from Marvel vs. Capcom 2), or Mimic (but not Magneto, who was mercifully included mere days ago), among many other X-Men-associated characters whose names and pseudonyms don't begin with the letter M!

(I really had to stretch it to keep the alliteration going)
The Marvel platform fighter thread is on the last of the decade-based submissions, the 2010s. (And also 2020-2022)

The characters introduced here are obviously newer, but there's still plenty of characters who have made a big impact in a short time, like Miles Morales or Spider-Gwen, who are eligible. A character going through a major identity change in this period can also be nominated, so characters like Sam Wilson as Captain America or Jane Foster as Thor are options.

(Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan is already in the line-up - as of now, America Chavez and Captain Marvel have been nominated, but I know there are more than two Marvel fans on this site)
The Marvel platform fighter thread is currently nominating characters from the 1960's. It's still early on in deciding the roster, so there are a ton of potential options that haven't even been nominated yet (Black Panther, Magneto, any of the Fantastic Four, any of the original X-Men, Captain Marvel if you're counting her civilian identity rather than her superhero one, etc.).

I figured that getting the word out might help with raising interest in the thread (and possibly resulting in more than one character getting in from the vote - I'm not sure how it would be handled if there were a lot of options to choose from, but at the very least, it couldn't hurt).

I'm proud that I got this Steam achievement; while I've played Dead By Daylight quite a bit, I don't play as the Survivors very often, and if I'm only going to get one achievement for winning with the Survivor's default perks, I'm glad it was for using Ash.
I think I'm nearing the end of Kingdom Hearts 2. I finished the Hundred Acre Wood, Halloween Town, Atlantica, the Pride Lands, and Olympus Coliseum last night (I didn't realize that the Hades Cup was story content at first - I thought it was just a bonus challenge), so now I think I just need to revisit Space Paranoids, revisit Twilight Town, and then I'm pretty sure it's the final level.

I'm enjoying the game, though the Drives are a little annoying to level up. I think that once I'm finished with Kingdom Hearts 2, I'll move on to Metroid Dread - it seems pretty short (about 8 to 10 hours).
So there is this weird situation! So i made my spiderman thread before the big Marvel thread came out and since your thread opened i only have 1 Person still contributing!
I know you are a big marvel fan too so i have no problem (after all my Thread is mostly spiderman related!)
But maybe you could do me a favour while also having a nice gimmick:
So how about we both make a Crossover job in which 3 Characters exclusive to your Roster Join mine and Vice Versa? (i also know your puuting more work in your thread than i do in mine so i could limit the pickable crossover Chars to only more well known ones! So a lot of the symbiotes of my roster cant be picked for this event!)
Would you like something like that?
Edit: im sorry if you want you can delete This!

I didn't make the Marvel thread; I just thought I'd bring it up because I thought that more people would mean more variety when it comes to nominations. (like CheeseAnton said, I only made a PlayStation All Stars 2 thread, and I don't think I'm going to make another one of those "make a game" threads for a while)

True ive already read this post i made a Oopsie the person Making the marvel thread was in fact most likely inspired by my Thread! (he was on it once or twice before doing his own one)
You can delete this post if you want too i already send a message to him!
I've got a few movies that I'm planning to watch for Spooky Month:

-Friday the 13th Part 6 - I've only seen one other Friday the 13th movie (part 4, and that was largely for Crispin Glover's ridiculous dancing), but I've heard this one's relatively good.

-Prince of Darkness - I've liked the John Carpenter movies that I've seen (Halloween, Escape from New York, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and They Live), and I'm hoping that this makes it six for six.

-Christine - I got a DVD collection of Stephen King movies a while ago, and I haven't watched this one yet.

-No Time to Die - not tied to the theme, but I'm probably going to see this around Thanksgiving. (the Canadian Thanksgiving, that is) This will be the second James Bond movie that I've seen in theaters.

-Halloween Kills - this one's a maybe. I liked Halloween 2018, but when I watched it in theaters, I felt really weird/spooked afterwards, and it was probably a tame example by the standards of the genre (I was glad that I watched it in the afternoon, rather than having to drive home at night). This was only my first scary movie that I had seen in theaters, and I'm not sure if I want to relive that experience haha.

Not sure which other ones I should watch, if any.
Dude, what about making more PSABR 2 content? The game would be perfect if you made more with others.

I wanted to keep it somewhat realistic. It would be possible to keep going and add a ton of characters, but I have my doubts that a sequel to a PS3 game that was swept under the rug and effectively forgotten by Sony would reach a roster size comparable to Smash Bros. Ultimate. (even doubling the roster size from the original felt like a bit much)

Cmon man, You can do it! This time, it would be better than PS3 PSABR, it would also counterback SSBU or even its series if PSABR 2 was released.
With just a few hours left, what are your expectations/hopes for Nintendo's E3?

I'm expecting that it's probably going to be a fairly tame Direct (though probably considered the best presentation almost by default), with the only Zelda news being Age of Calamity DLC and ports of Wind Waker HD and/or Twilight Princess HD. Maybe we'll get one last trailer for No More Heroes 3 since the game launches in August.

I'm hoping for Bayonetta 3, a Metroid game by MercurySteam, Rare Replay on Switch, or the long-rumoured Halo: The Master Chief Collection port, though none of those seem especially likely. I'm also hoping for Crash or Dante in Smash, though I think I'd be fine with most characters.

Bandai-Namco has a presentation today as well - not sure what to expect there, but I'm hoping for some kind of Tekken collection (I'd be happy with 1-4 and Tag Tournament) or an anime fighter by Arc System Works. (anime licenses seem to change hands, but Bandai-Namco consistently works with One Piece, Naruto, My Hero Academia, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, so there's a lot of potential there) Again, that seems wildly optimistic on my part, and I figure that if any fighting game news is going to be announced, it will probably be at EVO.

EDIT: I've read that Bandai-Namco's stream is for one game. Not sure how accurate that is, but if that's the case, I'm not expecting much. (it's called House of Ashes)

Perkilator Perkilator I'm honestly surprised that the Kingdom Hearts collections aren't on Switch, all things considered (since they're on Xbox and PC, it's not like there's an exclusivity deal in place). I've got them on PS3 (and if PS3 can run a game, you would think that the Switch would be able to), but hopefully they get announced for Switch.

my tame expectations are just some SMTV news, we'll probably get at least one more Smash reveal but I'm not holding hope for it being someone that interests me. Not gonna complain if we get any Bayo3 news or Rare replay on Switch however.
Generally speaking, Microsoft's presentation tends to have two or three things that interest me, and that tradition continued this year:

-Psychonauts 2 release date (easily the highlight of their show for me - I've been looking forward to that game for fifteen or sixteen years)
-The Outer Worlds 2 (I'm completely unfamiliar with the first game, but that trailer reminded me of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is usually a plus)
-and, to a lesser extent, Halo Infinite's multiplayer being free to play

I didn't watch the Ubisoft or Square-Enix presentations live, but from the sounds of it, I don't think I missed much. (it's weird that Square-Enix is bringing FF1-6 to mobile versions and Steam, again, but not to the Switch, or any consoles for that matter) I saw some things, like the Mario + Rabbids trailer, the Guardians of the Galaxy S-E game, and the FF Origins trailer, but they didn't really hook me. (FF Origins seems like an unnecessarily gritty take on a game that looks like this:

    )

Capcom seems to be the main one tomorrow, but it's only half an hour, so I'm not sure if they'll have a lot of announcements. Then it's Nintendo and Namco-Bandai - not sure what to expect, but I'm hoping we get some Bayonetta 3 news from Nintendo (I'll take concept art at this point - something to show that the game actually exists in some form), and a One Piece fighting game (or any fighting game in the style of Dragon Ball FighterZ - Naruto, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, My Hero Academia... you name it) or a Tekken collection for Namco-Bandai. (though all of those seem like pipe dreams)
Bandai-Namco seems weirdly reluctant to include another one of their own characters in Smash (considering that they're helping to develop the game), but if one if these last two characters is from that company, who would you like to see?

I'm honestly surprised that they didn't include Heihachi - while I feel like Tekken should get into Smash (it seems bizarre that it's not in here already), I'm not super familiar with Tekken, so I'm not sure whether Jin or Kazuya would make more sense, and I prefer Heihachi between the three. I'd probably pick Agumon from Digimon.

For me, it'd be Chosen Undead. Dark Souls is a Bandai-Namco-published game and the game trilogy that bolstered the Soulsbourne genre to new heights. Unlike other swordfighters that are currently DLC like Sephiroth, Hero, or Pyra/Mythra, I feel like Chosen Undead would be a slow, methodical character that's all about reading, baiting, and punishing a character for their mistakes, just like in Dark Souls.

Dark Souls is most certainly a very prominent game in the industry, and I'm surprised Smash hasn't added them to Smash as of yet.

Oooh, I didn't know Dark Souls counted. That would be a really cool newcomer if it happens.

I made a thread about Smashboards users putting together a sequel to PlayStation All-Stars, in case anyone's interested in participating.
Playing Crash 4. While I'm not a huge fan of the series placing a huge emphasis on trial and error (since, unless you have an Aku Aku mask, you die in one hit - it feels like trying to do a 0 rings run of every Sonic level) but also requiring deathless runs if you want to fully complete the game (at least in Crash 4), the inclusion of a modern mode that gives you unlimited lives is a huge improvement in my eyes.

I wish that (and the yellow circle that appears under you when you're in midair, to show you where you're going to land) was included in the N. Sane Trilogy as an option.
Not sure what that new Avatar is but nice!

Hey Megadoomer, alexxxela alexxxela and I were wondering something regarding how profile posts work and maybe you could help us understand things better.

So there are some times when we want to reply on some profile posts, but for reasons we don't know we just don't have the square thing to write down replies towards them.

I personally doubt It has to do with the person blocking one of us because It seems to happen with people who would be very unlikely to block any of us.

Could you maybe as a mod help us both understand better how that whole thing works?
I'm going to try taking suggestions when it comes to writing Smash (or, in this case, Smash-like) moveset ideas for indie characters. I figure it's a good way for me to get creative, and it gives me the chance to learn about indie games that I might not have played otherwise.
Can I be added as a supporter for the Cranky Kong Comes Out Of Retirement thread, please?

That could work too, but swanky is my second favorite of the lesser characters, and I wish to garner as much of a following and as early as possible so that he is not ignored for sake of of 'first dibs' by others, such as Lanky, who might be as popular.

Doc Monocle Doc Monocle While you're at it, you should probably do that for other overlooked characters like Captain Syrup and Bonk. We're gonna need cases like those to get support boost especially if Bamco characters aren't getting any iota of progress.
    Doc Monocle

Captain Syrup? Bonk? I heard of the former, but not the latter, and I have played neither of the corresponding series knowingly. I shall take a look, but my critique will be of second quality...
I think I'm going to try to finish Final Fantasy 9 - I have way too many RPGs in my backlog, and I find that I'm more likely to finish an RPG if I focus mainly/entirely on it when I have the free time to play a game. (I'm currently on what would have been disc 2 in the original release)

In terms of Final Fantasy games alone, I also have Final Fantasy 4, 8, 10, and 10-2 to play through, though unlike three of those four other FF games, I've actually started (and gotten a decent amount of the way through) 9.
I'm finally making progress on an Avengers fan-game that I've been wanting to make for a while. Even if it's just walking sprites for the founding Avengers and Loki, and the sprites themselves are likely fairly basic, it feels good to accomplish something on that front.
I'm watching Thunderball. So far, it's got a strong opening, and a top tier Bond theme in my eyes. (Up there with Goldfinger, Skyfall, and Casino Royale, from the Bond movies that I've seen)

I just saw that Sega's putting out a Yakuza/Streets of Rage mash-up on Steam, but only for two days for some reason. I haven't played much of either series, but I've enjoyed what I've played of Yakuza Zero and Streets of Rage 2, so I'll pick it up.
