It’s been a big year for Australian smash. BAM 7 in May featured some of the best Melee players in the world and had the first female winner of a major tournament. Perth and Sydney hosted new tournament series that were both won by out of state challengers. With all that having occurred in the last 11 months what better way to round off the year’s proceedings than with what could be one of the biggest and most important tournaments in Australian smash history, Adelaide’s SXC 2K15.

Not many players can say they have double eliminated a national threat in Smash 4 but just that happened this weekend at The Frame Perfect Series. With a $1000 pot bonus and more on the line the competition was intense with Smash 4 talent like Sol, MVD, Fatality, 8Bitman, Nick Riddle, and ESAM in attendance. But as ESAM took the stage for top 16 winners he was defeated. In losers semis he was eliminated from the event by the same player. Who took him down? DJ Jack.

Just over a week ago, the announcement of Final Fantasy's Cloud coming to Smash 4 took the world by storm. Most were expecting the winner of the Smash Ballot, and many were not expecting another third party representative to come so soon after Ryu's release. Dan Fornace's upcoming game, Rivals of Aether, has been in Early Access for a few months now.
