As mentioned in a previous article, the visa application of Melee pro-player, Leffen, was denied recently. He had applied for a P-1 visa, which allows sports players entry into the United States. However, the government did not consider Super Smash Bros. Melee a legitimate sport, much to the dismay of the community.

Fortunately, Team Solo Mid recently announced some good news: Leffen has obtained a short term, P-1 visa, which will allow him entry into the United States until the end of July. This means that Leffen can now enter EVO and other American tournaments.

A few years ago, we saw the story of top Melee players documented in a 9-part series called "The Smash Brothers". Those videos gathered the history of 7 of the most dangerous Melee players and their road to glory and fame, from the times when DI was witchcraft and a certain Forward Air to Down Air string had no name, to the era when Melee got a revival and the true leaders showed their moves.

Recently, Corey "False" Shin from Rush Hour Smash started a Kickstarter campaign to produce a sequel to this documentary, but instead of focusing on Melee, False would like to take a look at the controversial Smash game that divided the community. Yes, a Brawl documentary. The goal of the Kickstarter campaign is $6,303; currently, it has collected over $1,100 with 29 days left to donate.

No, it's not Lylat.

Lilac from Freedom Planet gets a brand new outfit in her very own Smashified art by the artists Artsy Omni and Chris Szczesiul. This is their first ever commissioned art, and it was requested by the developer team itself, Galaxy Trail. The art showcases for the first time Lilac's new look for Freedom Planet 2, a spiritual successor to Sonic the Hedgehog, and it was done in collaboration with Galaxy Trail's Character Design Team.

You can find the Smashified website right here and Galaxy Trail's Twitter here.

What do you think about this art? Do you think this third-party collaboration is good for their project? Let us know in the comments!
