Umebura 25 Preview: Japan takes on the USA feat. Nakat, Kame, Void and More!

This Saturday, September 10, Kanto's premier tournament series returns for another installment. Umebura 25 marks the first big tournament in East Japan since Umebura S.A.T. last month. This time, brand new international guests are coming! This time, Counter Logic Gaming's finest Super Smash Bros. Wii U players, James "CLG VoiD" Makekau-Tyson and Tyrell "CLG NAKAT" Coleman, will try their luck against Kanto's best. In addition, Richard "CLG Keitaro" King and D'Ron "D1" Maingrette will also be there, so expect some top-notch English commentary. Be sure to tune in to SHI Gaming if you want to catch the action live.

Top Smash players from all over the country came to Boston last August 26 - 28 for the region's first premiere event: Shine 2016. With a number of Super Smash Bros., Melee and for Wii U's titans present, the level of competition was set to be high and it showed. The stakes were high, the crowds intense and in the end, only one king could wear the crown for each game.

As its name suggests, Kanto’s legendary Pokémon wielder Yuto “Abadango” Kawamura will be flown in to compete against SoCal’s best players. However, it turns out that he’s not the only guest of note. Umebura: The Second Anniversary Tournament (Umebura S.A.T.) is celebrating the legacy of the premier Kanto tournament series. Top 8 for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at Super Smash Con has concluded. Once again, this event proved to be one of the highlights of Summer Smash. The online qualifier Road to Shine (RtS) has officially concluded. Over 1,400 players from all over the US and Canada competed to win a paid trip to Shine 2016 on August 26–28 in Boston, MA. After losing to Elliot "Ally" Carroza-Oyarce in winners' semifinals, Aaron "Dyr" Wilhite fought his way through losers, eventually defeating Ally in the runback and Chukwuemeka "Mekos" Anazia in 2 sets of grand finals. Though still fairly new to the tournament scene, Dyr is already a rising star.

After a two-month break, Umebura once again returns to the Ota City Industrial Plaza in Tokyo this Sunday, July 24th. This is the final installment before the highly-anticipated Second Anniversary Tournament hosted next month. It is set to be streamed by SHI Gaming. Perhaps because Kanto residents are eager to get their practice in, this event reached its 224-entrant capacity weeks in advance and features most of the region’s premier talent.
