Why not just do the glitch to where you can do Melee mode with no opponent?

9 out of 10 times I'll do it fine, but when I play someone I'll screw up the short hop or the fast fall. Does anyone else get this problem or what can I do to solve this?

L + Dpad (any direction) just makes the cpu stand and do nothing.

The graphics on the 3ds version look pretty solid But will the 3ds be able to handle it? I notice that Pokemon X and Y have some lag while battling but so much more goes on in a fight in smash bros than a pokemon battle. Discuss.
