I've never heard of a requirement of facing away from the stage? To bomb jump just try and do the trick with no agt and the least horizontal momentum you can get. You can land the explosion hit box with the backwards shoulder of the up b if you go straight up and quickly hit forward backwards...

It works on more or less anyone who's not a fast faller at percents greater than about 100. The problem is actually getting the grab without getting punished to death for a missed tether. Since his combo weight is atrocious, it's a risk-reward situation really.

That purple pikmin clearly couldn't handle the burden that is war and just jumped off, I see no glitch. Please take your pikmin to therapy sessions and make sure to monitor their mental health. But yea... pikmin desynchs at random get a bit wacky sometimes.
