honestly i prefer the shine better than utilt...its easier to hit after a pillar since u just press down+B rather than going doing a Utilt which u have a higher chance of screwing up on. and i think depending on percentage Utilt most likely would send them higher, so the decision is in ur case...

for all of u who r just starting with marth i just thought this would be some good useful information...one of marth's greatest moves is his Dtilt or poke which is a good way to edge guard and set up for follow up attacks. for those starting out with marth and wunna make good use of his poke...
