@Spiny Top It's not just latency, but input delay, unstable viewing, random disconnects and other issues that would really downplay the viewership. Also, it's definitely not a "few." It's been a problem since the game came out, so the number has been growing for a while now.

I wouldn't expect any changes to the netcode anytime soon. They been doing this for years since their first online games and it's barely a step up in recent games with it. And knowing that FGC/EVO aren't big fans of Smash games, I bet they were in total euphoria hearing that Ultimate's online is...

The Smash Community has been divided for a long time. This is just another fork in the road we'll have to deal with. But since it's familiar, it'll be forgotten in a few weeks until the next FE character (or one that's not considered "worthy" to join) comes around.

It's not about what the FGC think. It's about what they want and they don't want to be associate with Smash Bros too much. Casually? Without question. Competitively? To an extent. As long the "petty" people exist in that community, it still stands they don't want it in. And with that thought...

That's barely going to change views from the FGC. They're still going to view Ultimate as a kiddie game and their endgame of ridding Smash altogether from EVO is just another step away.
