I know for a fact G Red is Gotcha Force. I love that game and its apparently super expensive now. Glad I still have my copy. Max could be many characters (Scribblenauts?) but my bias says Dark Cloud 2. Dont know the others

It depends on what you dislike about the first game. Yeah the first game is probably the most dated of the bunch, but things don't change THAT dramatically across the series, it might just not be for you.

My three biggest wants after Ridley were Banjo, Sora, and Phoenix Wright. Can't complain with two out of three
