"Brother from another MOTHER". Lucas Smash Ultimate Discussion thread.

I've played through the trilogy twice now. Once back in high school and again for the 30th anniversary. Far and away my favorite franchise, with EarthBound taking the spot as my favorite piece of media in existence.

    Ness moveset analysis

9.0.0 Up tilt does 2% more damage. 5% -> 7% (weak hit) 7% -> 9% (strong hit) Up throw does 2% more damage. 10% -> 12% The last hit of dash attack has increased damage, and apparently better knockback, but still doesn't seem like a kill move in any capacity. 4% -> 6% Down air comes out 2 frames...

No Crying Until the End: Ninten for Smash Ultimate!

Heh, I've technically been around here for a while, but I don't post much. This thread is honestly the reason I've kept my account on this relatively dead site. This tiny pocket of dedicated Mother fans is great. I always saw 4th-D slip as being visually like the starman assist trophy's...

No Crying Until the End: Ninten for Smash Ultimate!

I was just thinking of square based PSI sparks rather than actual pixels. It'd be kinda odd if his attacks were all pixelated when compared to Ness and Lucas. Looking closer at Ness and Lucas, they each have 2 primary colors to their attacks. Ness's are primarily pink with a hint of green...

No Crying Until the End: Ninten for Smash Ultimate!

Giving his attacks a very blocky appearance would be appropriate, seeing as he comes from an NES game. As for a color scheme for his PSI energy, I think blue, purple, and pink would be most appropriate as a callback to the background when collecting a melody and when singing the eight melodies.

No Crying Until the End: Ninten for Smash Ultimate!

As the resident jaded mother fan, I still don't like Ninten's chances, but I'll be supporting him 100% until the end.

Media Ness Grab Range is Bad [Important]

I can’t tell if this is bait or not. This is such an irrelevant and ridiculous claim.

Is it just me, or did they do something to Ness' fair?

I rarely have these issues, so I dunno what else to tell you. Learn what angles/maneuvers don’t connect and stop doing them

Is it just me, or did they do something to Ness' fair?

I honestly doubt there is a way to make multi-hit moves perfectly connect every time regardless of when/where you get hit. It’s just the nature of the moves. If they increase knockback of individual hits, there’s a chance of people getting pushed out of moves before they finish, like Link’s up...

Is it just me, or did they do something to Ness' fair?

Nah, it’s just multi-hits being multi-hits and not always connecting well. His fair is unchanged.

Media Ness Grab Range is Bad [Important]

The grab probably isn't ever getting buffed. So many characters have nearly unusable standing grabs that it's clearly intentional that standing grab is super situational. That said, I agree it's lame that standing grabs are so laughably bad. I've only noticed one critical problem with Ness that...

    Ness Mini-Redesign/Rebalance Thread

Just a quick note is that the changes to PKT wouldn’t work how you’re envisioning. The projectile beats everything now... but you’ve reintroduced it’s most critical flaw. Ness would be more vulnerable than ever since the projectile could just be stuffed out almost immediately upon using it. All...

    Ness Mini-Redesign/Rebalance Thread

Ness’s directional airdodge is already so absurd it might as well be a teleport recovery. In response to the op, this redesign is certainly unique, but it’s also very extra. The PP meter, while a fun EarthBound reference, is a lot to manage and doesn’t really capture how PSI worked in...

No Crying Until the End: Ninten for Smash Ultimate!

Mt Itoi makes me wanna die. I don’t enjoy grinding nearly impossible encounters for hours, so I usually just 4thD slip my way to Giegue.
