Wouldn't this technically help Doomguy in Smash as the 5th dlc fighter since he could still be a promotional fighter and release before Doom Eternal comes out?

They missed the actual Doom 2 release date 10 days too early.

So in recent news, classic Doomguy skins are confirmed for Doom Eternal This probably shows how the classic design for Doomguy in smash could work if the Doom Eternal design and moveset takes priority first.

In all honesty the CERO Z argument really doesn't hold that much water when Smash Ultimate has spirits from Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4, which are labeled CERO 18+ (probably before the CERO rating change?) and Z respectively.

Doesn't Sabi's tweets imply that people would assume Ryu Hayabusa would be the 5th dlc character and then turn out to not be that? There's still hope for Doomguy to make it in if that's the case.

The real question would be which costume would be his default one.

A stage that transitions between various Doom maps between Phobos, Deimos, and Hell could work. Add in a couple of Doom 2 maps as well as there are a lot of iconic maps there, even if most of them are infamous in design.

I'd argue that His side smash should at least be the Super Shotgun due to its sheer close-range power. Then again I'd imagine that Doomguy would have an ammo system mechanic where he has several attacks that utilize his weapons and each use a specific type of ammo, but once that type of ammo...

I'd imagine the Glory Kill mechanic to be if Doomguy/Slayer manages to stun an opponent at 150%+, then grabbing the stunned opponent would activate a specialized glory kill animation that takes the opponent's stock.

So according to the Hero presentation video released today, it appears Mii Costume Theory is dead since the new Mii costumes are all Dragon Quest related and none of the Square Enix costumes from Smash 4 have returned. This does give hope for Doomguy in this Fighter Pass as the last two fighters...
