    Smash Ultimate Ruleset Philosophy

Hi all, I'm Rishi (otherwise known as SmashG0D). I wear a lot of hats in multiple games but most people know me as a top Melee player. I want to throw my support behind a few points, and provide brief elaborations: 1) Let's start from scratch with what we consider to be "viable" stages. Max...

    Official Melee Texture Hack Thread

Yeah I did some searching in this thread and figured out what I was doing wrong. I changed them back to Indexed images, but leaving them as RGB color images worked fine when I imported them in.

    Official Melee Texture Hack Thread

I was trying to edit Peach textures by exporting them from DAT texture wizard, editing in Photoshop, and importing the edited textures back in. I noticed some of Peach's textures (e.g. her eyes and face) come in as "Index" files that I can't edit in Photoshop. Anyone know how I can bypass this?

    Changing Color Effects in Melee!

Hey guys - I downloaded the "Shadow Sword" texture pack for Marth, which gives him darkness effects on Dair, meteor hit sideB, and neutral B. I was wondering if anybody knew how to change the coloring of the darkness effect, as I haven't been able to find anything on that in these forums.

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

Yeah you just need to know where your opponent will be after you hit them. This becomes trickier when you start playing against opponents with better SDI, but you'll get better at it over time. You'll start to get a sense of how far the opponent will get sent based on their % range.

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

It's really a 3-step process: practice, practice, and training (which some might call practice). Eventually you internalize hitboxes and start getting better at visualizing where people will end up after connecting hits. The human brain is really good at forecasting events if it is familiar with...

Any advice on the Luigi MU?

Grabs/lasers/shines at low %. Stay moving so you don't get grabbed, and try not to get CC-dsmash'd. Shield both DownB hits and punish. WD in place OoS if you're having trouble punishing quickly enough. When Luigi is at mid-% you can go for more combos. He's slow enough in the air that you can...

Comboing spacies off-stage more is helping. I find that even if they DI Fair away and I can't get a true follow-up, I can react to most recovery options... or at least be in a strong position. So thanks!

When you say "combo offstage more," are you referring to my tendency to go for lots of Uair when comboing Fox? Should I be trying to force him off-stage earlier? My plan was to go for Uair until I got Fox at mid-high %, then get him off-stage.

I think normally, barring today, I tend to be a bit too bold when edgeguarding Fox and it costs me stage positioning or reverse-gimps, so today I tried playing it overly safe. Now my challenge is to find a balance between maintaining stage control and acknowledging when "bolder" edgeguards are...

I do, but haven't released them yet. I'll probably be doing a matchup analysis video on my stream (later uploaded to YouTube) sometime soon, and I may update my thread on the Marth boards. The most recent footage I have vs Samus is on Mintyflesh's stream archive...

Applying Wobbles' "Local Maxima" to Marth

I think The Moon is a great example of someone who is adept at this. Sometimes it is difficult to resist the temptation to go for a long, optimized combo on a spacie off of a grab, but sometimes you've just gotta throw in a Dthrow or Fthrow and punish the missed tech. At the end of the day, it's...

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

Don't undervalue the power of *doing nothing*. Empty landings are earned by conditioning your opponent to expect an attack on the way down, and can be your key to a grab or an assertion of stage control. If you're really afraid, you can air-dodge either in place, or perhaps through your...
