Because it's a Melee tournament that has Smash4. The logistical burden of having a huge Smash4 tournament is not something that can be accommodated, but since they want to feature it and let people who are playing it have some fun, they are having it as a side event.

They definitely feel different. There's a reason why Melee players often describe PM as clunky. The tech skill entry barrier is also a lot bigger in Melee.

I played a **** ton of Melee in college--probably like a full time job's worth for a year or two. I found it very easy to find the time to play then. After graduating, it's been rough. I did pretty well in school too.

Use c-stick, either by clawing or using your palm. You get full control of your horizontal momentum that way anyway.
