thanks, i would've attempted to test it myself but i don't have a wii with me at the moment. i'd be surprised if texture hacks have anything to do with it, can they have direct effects on gameplay like that? i'm no good when it comes to knowledge about all this wii hacking stuff.

the answer to the first question, is downsmash. more specifically, charged dsmash for the spot dodge & pivot dsmash for rolls. as for the second, pivot grab should win, though sometimes you'll still take the damage even if you land the grab. aside from pivot grab you should try punishing that...

I used to play SSBB but I'm a SSF4 player now, and whenever I go to majors I usually see that Capcom helps to sponsor the event, provide some equipment and also use the tournament as a place to sell products, advertise new games/products with try out stalls etc. Usually with Blazblue, Tekken etc...
