I'm pretty sure the correct way is to DI down and shield, but you're probably better off trying to jump out. The knockback on uptilt should only give Mario 2-3 tops before you can jump out, unless you're a fast falling character.

I don't have any issue racking up damage once I'm in. My problem is landing the kill move and getting past his range.

Does anyone know the timing to get a stage spike off of dash attack when someone is recovering and about to sweetspot the ledge? I've done it accidentally a few times, but I can't land it consistently.

DI up and away from Sheik to avoid the foward air combos. Also, try to avoid platforms at all costs, because they give Sheik more followups. I always ban Battlefield and Lylat (Sheik's best stage IMO). Aggresive Sheik players are easier to read, and make the matchup manageable. Passive Sheiks...

I haven't really played against any Game and Watch players in this version of the game (quite a few in Brawl, though). I'll just give a few notes. Mario will most likely be saving upsmash for the kill. It kills G&W really due to his weight. Down throw to up b is a true combo at low percents...

I honestly feel that Mario is top 15, maybe top 10. I feel like he can contend with most characters in this game when played correctly. I was personally inspired by Ally's play in those sets and plan on using it as a mark for where I would eventually like to be.

The key to the ROB matchup is getting in his face and staying there. He's susceptible to juggles since his nair and dair both have long startup. His other aerials don't hit below him. Cape his projectiles and watch out for his side b(it has a longer lasting hitbox this time around)

If I remember correctly, Ally used Mario in a set against M2k's Diddy and he barely used any fireballs.
