#UltimateDLCSoMale: The Female DLC Character Discussion

There's actually a good reason for that. Unlike most gender-choice avatars, Female Byleth's name differs in Japanese compared to Male Byleth. Unfortunately, this even split isn't consistent, as Kirby only has Male Byleth's hair upon using his B special on them & only Male Byleth appears in...

#UltimateDLCSoMale: The Female DLC Character Discussion

Female Byleth is appreciated, but it's not sufficient considering that she isn't the default. That's at least my take on the whole ordeal.

Credit where it's due, a female alternate costume is better than none at all. But my primary focus was towards characters who are either exclusively female or are female by default. I'm not gonna stop my push.

Well, we got a woman as yet another alternate costume. Byleth, as I feared, is male by default.

Kazooie is only really the secondary part of the duo & not the one you primarily control, but that’s been debated plenty. What we’re talking about are characters who are either exclusively female (Ex: Samus, Peach, Bayonetta, etc.) or gender-choice characters who are female by default (Ex...

For what it’s worth, Female Officer Howard is listed first in the spirit database.

Welp, R.I.P. Officer Howard. I guess they would have been male by default anyway, but there was a glimmer of hope for the female version being prioritized given how much of Astral Chain's ads focused on Female Officer Howard.

I didn't even look at the first page & I don't want to bother looking.

Likewise, gender &/or ethnic diversity and being fun to play shouldn't be mutually exclusive. This is Sakurai we're talking about, he made a plant fun to play. I don't doubt him from a moveset standpoint.

Going by your logic, women & minorities are a part of gaming history as well. And Sakurai & Nintendo are ignoring a number of great options on that front. Women who can bring a lot to the table mechanically exist, they just aren't using them for whatever reason.

This, basically. We explained why this matters several times in the thread already. Long story short, representation matters & it helps women & minorities better connect with the characters (I can attest to this thanks to my own little cousins taking a liking to Twintelle & Min Min in ARMS...

#UltimateDLCSoMale: The Female DLC Character Discussion

To be fair, Intelligent Systems made the pivot after Fates came out. But the decision to stick with Male Corrin as the default in Smash Ultimate despite IS changing course kinda comes off as Sakurai pointlessly standing against the tide. Smash Wii U/3DS I can understand, as that decision was...

I mean, we kinda got that with the DLC, which I'd take over third versions any day. But with the state Sword/Shield came out in, I feel kinda conflicted. Back on-topic, I'd imagine that we'll get a general Direct next week.

They’ll probably announce the general Direct next week or the week after.

#UltimateDLCSoMale: The Female DLC Character Discussion

I'm gonna watch it, but I'm not super-excited for it. Sword/Shield were bottom-tier Pokémon for me (alongside OR/AS) much in part due to the games feeling rushed from top to bottom. The idea of Game Freak jumping straight on Crazy Diamond & Jammin' Pearl has me more worried than excited, as I...
