Also recommend characters like Pikachu/Pichu that can edgeguard rediculously well and fit an aggressive playstyle (Pichu moreso than Pikachu). Other than them Grappler characters like DK can be played aggressively due to their usually heavy weight.

Although I slightly agree, you have to realize Mario is the essence of Nintendo. He's their posterboy and likely always will be. Because of that, I think it's fair for his series to have the most representation in Smash bros, a game about celebrating gaming's history.

One thing that changed in this game is that Sonic can't spin dash through your shield. That change single-handedly made him a worse character. Try shielding his spindash and then punishing it with something quick like a jab or a tilt. Do it enough and it'll condition the player to stop doing...

That's a dangerous game though, lowering your shield health for a meme might not be the best choice.
