Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

Couldn't find an image of pikachu standing still, so ignore his movement. Just showing that I meant the base of his tail is probably getting stabbed. Notice how when pikachu's standing upright it sticks out a bit from his body. You'll likely have to shield angle down/behind.

Pikachu's Shield and Getting Shield Poked

The start of pikachu's tail sticks out of full shield. You are most likely getting stabbed there. If the shield is depleted at all you can be stabbed pretty much anywhere. Light shielding can be ok prevention (but limits your oos options). Angling down and behind you can be ok too, but it...

Q&A Ask about Pikachu! Hosted by Axe and N64! feat. dkuo!

That thunder coverage is pretty neat. I guess I always assumed it was too slow to properly cover. It does look like you have hard-read that they're going to DI to platform, but sometimes that is their only option and it looks like you still do have a small amount of time to react to DI and pick...

    Edgeguarded by Marth

Np man. Yeah, that looked like an intercept. If Axe was further out he may have been ok (it feels like upB has a little lingering hitbox as you start it), but I don't know exact frame data.

Analyzing and developing the peach MU

    Sounds good to me.

    Edgeguarded by Marth

    1. If you're talking about the first link ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_g5Gdr42ig#t=44s ), Axe didn't snap to the ledge, PPMD just hit him out of second part of upB. The other times in that set were the same, or PPMD hit the vertex pancake hitboxes. I suppose I'm not actually 100% positive...

Analyzing and developing the peach MU

This is great! I love seeing in-depth analyses & theorycrafting on pikachu stuff. I do have some concerns or possible explanations why Axe might not use these options as often though (but feel free to discuss/argue it). Uthrow combos: I don't doubt those combos are legit. I don't know of their...

    Edgeguarded by Marth

The main thing to note, and I want to make sure it's clear / you understand, is that if you travel at a downward angle with the second part of Pika's upB towards the ledge correctly, Marth cannot interrupt it. He can only hope to catch you before the second part happens (by hitting you at the...

    Edgeguarded by Marth

If the second half of your quick attack is at a downward angle, you'll "snap" to the ledge, and it's difficult-to-impossible for most characters to intercept it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Notv_iEFfHs Watch that set (was the first one I found on youtube) and watch how Axe gets to the...

How to gain momentum for Nair from a standstill

Make sure you actually get a dash and hold forward as you jump. That's all you need, there's no "time to build up speed" element. Just have to be dashing and make sure you're holding forward as you jump.

    Something weird happened with pikachu

While I appreciate the enthusiasm, most people just call it the pika super wavedash. Not entirely creative or accurate, but that's what it's known as.

Neat Axe, can't wait! I'll paste whatever you provide over the super outdated matchups sticky. I crawled out of my cave to go to a local tourney this past weekend. Here's vids for any interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRzDAmzHYcw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sJYt7KqXMQ...
