Yeah but the definition of a "Smash fanbase request" is pretty vague. Preferences change all the time. For instance, you mentioned Smash fanbase polls as an indication for Smash popularity, which is sketchy at best. If we look at Source Gaming's Mega Smash poll, we see characters like Doomguy...

If we get cameos of NG/DOA characters I don't think Rachel would appear at all. Unlike the DOA girls, Rachel doesn't have a single costume that isn't sexually suggestive. We'll definitely see Momiji instead

I also think he should have the damage effect from Ninja Gaiden 1 NES when he hits people, similar to Simon/Richter, Cloud, Ryu and Terry.

I think the first character being a Nintendo spirit/assist upgrade is a very good sign. I predict there will be one or two more Nintendo characters.

Sol would be cool. GG plays very differently to SF and KOF so we could see its mechanics in the fighter, and I love his character design. Also the music. THE MUSIC

Whoops. I meant to say non-Mario, not third party. That's my Smash brain talking. Anyway, HAL is a second party studio, while Mario, Zelda, AC and Splatoon were all made by Nintendo EAD, hence why I think Kirby was excluded

I think the only reason Kirby wasn't in MK8D was because the non-Mario in that game were from internal Nintendo studios, while Kirby is from HAL. I can't think of any other explanation, because otherwise Kirby in MK8 makes too much sense - at least more than Animal Crossing and Splatoon characters.

I don't see the correlation, other than both being from SNES Squaresoft JRPG games.
