Thanks for your in-depth comparison! I have both of these replacement knobs (A and B), and actually I reached the opposite conclusion as you did. Type A does look a bit better, as it's not as glossy, however the hard surface provides barely any friction, so it's prone to slipping off...

Work In Progress Perfect setups (TV/monitor, console, capture device)

Thank you, I have corrected the two sections. I'd love to lag test HD CRTs against CRT monitors, however outside of the Sony PVM-20M7MDE which I own and have measured already, I'm not aware of any 480p-capable CRT TVs (and even the PVM is not really a TV) to exist in Europe, sadly.

Oh, yeah, I have that too with most PS-style caps. It's good though, much better to have them fit tightly than loosely.

Work In Progress Perfect setups (TV/monitor, console, capture device)

Yeah. By "doesn't save nearly as much over Wii2HDMI" I meant that the lag introduced by the LCD (over CRT) is (most probably) much much higher than the reduction in 'output lag' on GCVideo compared to Wii2HDMI. It's 5-6 ms vs an expected 0.08 ms or so. In other words, what many people often say...

Work In Progress Perfect setups (TV/monitor, console, capture device)

5-6 ms certainly isn't a lot and doesn't make a noticeable difference in most situations / for most people. I agree that the pros might outweigh the cons, I just think it's deceiving and wrong to call these LCD setups 'lagless'. Concerning image clarity and color, many VGA CRTs are still...

Define "very tight". I'm not sure what technical issue you are referring to with that term.

Work In Progress Perfect setups (TV/monitor, console, capture device)

LCDs have at least 5-6 ms of total display lag over CRT at 60 Hz. From my understanding, it's expected that the Gamecube HDMI output doesn't save nearly as much over analog output / Wii2HDMI, so GC + HDMI + LCD will not be truly "lagless". If the screws are the same ones as on my Sony...

You can order from Alibaba as a private person, however you still need to meet the MOQ (minimum order quantity), usually 50 pieces. I only have white stick knob + button sets at the moment, but I could send you a couple of them, yeah. I have two third-party types, one of which looks quite...

Q&A The Official Technical Issues Q&A thread (TV's, Controllers, gamecubes, etc)

I don't know any longer where I had found it, but I read a report by someone that those devices have lag, in the order of 8-25 ms. So better forget about it.

Magus doesn't seem to have writing privileges here yet, too. https://smashboards.com/members/magus420.12573/ Also, @Bones0, in reply to your point about ssbwiki being better for archival, while that is true for certain generalized content like character frame data (active frames, hitbox...

Sadly, none of the third-party stick knobs are quite as good as the original ones. The only ones that I find to have at least equal friction are the Playstation style ones, but they require a pretty large amount of modification to fit properly. Some of the third-party GCC type stick knobs are...

If you want to bring Smashboards back...it's up to you

The problems I personally see with Smashboards are the same as before, and they aren't really any less in this VIP subforum than in the other subforums of Smashboards: good, insightful, helpful posts get buried under heaps of low-quality / banter posts and threads. The potential I see for the...

The ones from the "type 4" / "type 1 black fake" stickboxes (Alibaba / AliExpress) to me appear identical to the ones originally used with type 3 stickboxes. I'm pretty confident that they were made by the exact same factory, even. It might even be that these stickboxes themselves are "original"...

Yes, that's something completely different and will not help with your current issue in the slightest bit. Quote from the video's description: "*I advise AGAINST doing this mod!* If you have problems with snapback, do the capacitor mod instead." The odds of success in terms of fixing your...

Don't buy silicone grease, that would cause way more problems than it would solve. Lubricating the potentiometers is difficult, I advise to only have the controller serviced by someone who is skilled and qualified. I plan to make a video tutorial on eliminating PODE through lubrication, but it...
