Interesting stuff. I tested a way to do this without changing your control configuration. It is difficult to pull off consistently but with practice it is doable. Do a footstool jump off of someone grounded with Y (DI'ing left, for instance) and quickly slide your thumb to B while immediately...

If the DK player is upBing vertically up to the ledge, then you can run off, counter to stage spike.

I only use A for Jabs/tilts. Shuffle aerials I use Z instead of A because it sits right near my index. Less movement/effort on my hands. Sliding and C-sticking aerials seem to work better with 2nd jumps instead of right off the ground, I feel. Its purely about preference, though. Give Z a try.
