Nope, the 6f of input lag is universal. I don't know if Nintendo has any plans to change this. I'm used to Melee, a game with no buffering and I think 3f of universal input lag, so for the past year I've been trying to adapt and adjust. Over time it just becomes second nature.

Is a tertiary even necessary? I would imagine that between Mario and Dedede, a large majority of the roster is covered. To me, a tertiary is normally used for a specific match-up or two, and doesn't see much use otherwise.

@Naptec Perhaps your friend would take a liking to whiff punishers such as Fox, Terry, or Greninja, or even defensive, bait and punish characters like Wii Fit Trainer or Duck Hunt. Has he reached a conclusion on his own yet?

I'd say Falco is a mid range zoner, and Mario is a grappler.

It can be escaped, and really only Yoshi and Ness have difficulty escaping it. Donkey Kong isn't a relevant threat in the current meta and never really has been, seems kind of overkill to suddenly remove one of his best tools.

@GingerJack It depends on who you enjoy playing as more. Eventually, you're going to have to prioritize one character over the other, but that doesn't mean you can't have that other character as a secondary- in this case, Mario, since he is the stronger character overall.

I don't even think Donkey Kong is the second best super heavy- that would be King Dedede, with his Gordo traps. Zaki gets good results in Japan with the penguin. Additionally, Donkey Kong suffers from his moves being negative on hit at low percentages. He lacks the explosive tools to really...
