I absolutely agree, though this poses another interesting question; if a given character is fully capable of performing very well consistently but lacks the right players to carry them there, is their viability being judged fairly? I suppose a good way to see that would be like the age old...

Makes sense, although acquiring said data gets harder and harder the smaller a given characters playerbase is, as there are far fewer players to serve as your sample size, don't you think? So relying on that alone would only prove to be accurate for the most popular (most used) characters...
