Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

I wanted to add a little tidbit of info some people may know and some may not about fsmash and dtilt edge guarding. Look at the gifs for those two moves carefully. First fsmashs hitboxes are 3 overlapping circles. Memorise where the lowest point of the tipper hit box is and position yourself so...

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

You are doing a great job. Also want to thank you for being so active on smashboards while you have been recovering. I have often just watched this forum for tips in the past. By pivot set ups do you mean just the dthrow vs fthrow ones or are there more? My problem with those if that if you...

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

Hi PP, first off, awesome stream, your marth is inspiring. I was wondering how do you win the Marth vs. Puff matchup? I can win neutral a good percentage of the time but I have soooo much trouble converting it into a kill whereas I feel like puff can get a kill off of like 3-4 neutral wins. So...

What do you do on shield?

I've heard young link has amazing frame data on shield but I'm not sure what you are supposed to do once you hit shield with a Nair/Bair/fair. Also if you bomb throw before the Nair can you get bomb -> Nair -> grab on shield?

Data Kadano's perfect Marth class -- advanced frame data application

First, none of his grounded options cover sweetspot, what I mean by landing mechanics (which I finally found) is that if the final frame of marths fair hit box is low enough to cover sweet spot if it comes out the frame before his ecb touches the ground. Unfortunately I haven't found a gif yet...

Data Kadano's perfect Marth class -- advanced frame data application

Quick question, does shffl fair done perfectly (such that the lowest hitbox comes out just before marth lands) cover sweet spot? How about shffl dair? I don't know enough about landing mechanics to test this.

Notable Difference(s) between shieldbreaker / Fsmash?

You can start a shield breaker from the air so it makes it useful against spacy side B's like fair but without potentially poping them up instead of out. Also I like to use it as a whiff punish on rest.

How do you kill with Marth?

At high percentage the safe stuff earns you edge guard opportunities or puts your opponent above you. So 1. Focus on edge guarding and 2. Learn to punish better when they are above you at high percent.

Foxes seem to get so many free hits on me at low percents

Yeah, fox is a good character. You can di behind and double stick di the upair to try to get out but good foxes still hit 1-3 up airs. Honestly, eating 39% isn't that bad, good foxes can get ~ 55-60%. On the bright side, you do worse to him with your CG and platform punishes.

    Vs. Falco practice help

You aren't gonna like this but you gotta get reket a lot by very good falcos so you can go through the stages of getting good at the matchup. Stage 1. Learning what gets you rekt: roll, dash dancing defensively, getting stuck in shield, ect. Stage 2. Learning proper defensive options and getting...

What style of Marth should i play?

Yeah, JUST relying on the grab game is bad now. That said, its still a major component of Marths game and you should still be leveraging your strength with it. What's changed is that you need more than just the grab game. You need to perfect his movement, and use of dtilt/spaced aerials in order...

    Struggling with Marth movement

Unfortunately, Marth vs. Falco is a weird matchup movement wise. You either try to stay right next to him, or end up shielding a lot and acting out of shield. Your dash dance game gets broken up by his lazers so you can't really move the same way you normally would. For movement in general the...

    MU Discussion: The Terrible Marth

Forward b is usually pretty safe (though usually inferior to dtilt). Fsmash though is VERY punishable in neutral. If he wiffs then you can just fsmash back for free. If you spot dodge it you get a free grab. If you can wd oos you get a free grab which can be converted into fthrow fsmash if he...

    Killing without F-Smash?

This may be a play style thing. At least for me the most important tool for marth is edge guarding. Comboing into a tippers, dairs, reversed dolphin slashes are great and all, but edge guarding is the most reliable way for me to get a kill. If your edge guarding is okay, but not great, then you...

    Marth's Counter

Counter is an okay edge guard against spacies. Against good spacies it only works on Stadium and battlefield, the other stages have a wall for them to grind on and sweet spot (which avoids the counter). Counter is also beat by a high recovery angle. Considering the high cooldown, it's often not...
