Editoral: A Smashing Debate, Part 1

Perhaps you should have read the page that "interesting choices" links to in your very own quote. It covers this whole concept quite clearly. And the final lines are perfectly accurate. The meaning of a video comes solely from overcoming challenges (whether they be single-player elements of...

Editoral: A Smashing Debate, Part 1

A few things here are a bit short-sighted and poorly-reasoned. Responses in bold.

Editoral: A Smashing Debate, Part 1

Competition is a contest of skill, and video games are a medium defined by organic interaction. Memorizing data, while required for playing the game, isn't actually playing the game. Regardless of your knowledge, you still need to be able to execute. Because Smash Bros is a game designed heavily...

Editoral: A Smashing Debate, Part 1

"We agree that Miis should be legal in some way, but not just 1111, as this restricts a player's options." Yikes, who is making these decisions? This is not a matter of "restricting" options, it's reducing clutter and needless complexity. The more complexities in a game, the more a player is...

    "Smash 3" - A Brawl Documentary

I don't care much for Brawl, but this would still be interesting. I don't really care to see it enough to back it, but it would be interesting nonetheless.

    Corrin & Bayonetta: First Impressions

No, drawing conclusions based on nothing is trash reasoning.

    Corrin & Bayonetta: First Impressions

There's no reason whatsoever to believe that this is the last patch. End of DLC does not equal end of support. Stop asserting something that has in no way even been suggested to be true.

What if clones had unique movesets?

Marth's animations are the same. He even shares a character model with Lucina, apart from her hair. Her, Chrom, and Marth also share very similar stat caps and are all based on the same root class design.

What if clones had unique movesets?

Chrom, Lucina, and both Marth classes in Awakening literally all share animations. Their fighting style is identical.

What if clones had unique movesets?

Chrom's moveset would be identical to Marth and Lucina's. They have an identical fighting style.

Smash Wii U Things That Bug you in Smash

    1. I hate the existence of custom moves. Especially because of how annoying and time-consuming it is to unlock them all (I still don't have them all). And the fact that you have to create a custom character with custom moves and play in custom mode is obnoxious. A better solution would be...

What Is One Thing You Absolutely Love About Smash 4?

Not sure if I can narrow it down to just one, so I'll give a few: I really like the overall feel of the game. It's not very specific, but it feels more fluid and tactile than any of the previous Smash games. I love the spike-bouncing, as opposed to just popping characters off the ground in...

    SmashPad Official Launch Trailer

This would be exciting if it were for an OS to which I was not vehemently opposed.

    Automatic L-Cancelling Discussion

This post single-handedly illustrates why L-canceling is bad game design. When designing inputs, there are two goals: 1. Make the input as simple as possible. 2. Make the input discrete so as to not overlap with any other input. Inputs should be made as simple as possible while still being...

Is the skill gap in Smash 4 too small?

Skill differences are never compressed, nor exaggerated. Obviously matchups an whatnot play a role, but If two players have a close match, then they are likely close in skill. The game isn't giving less skilled players a better chance against more skilled players, that's not how competition...
