Bad habits I should be looking to avoid?

Learn how to access your neutral jump and empty pivot, since many Falcon's just nairplane in with a full dash since it covers so much space, but it's such a common Falcon option that it's quite easily punished. Just like Marth, you have to space very well to maximize Falcon's aggression in a...

Falcon's Crouch Cancel Out of Dash/Run

you can jump out of dash to enter squat wait and get the knock down, super useful when they try to pop you up for a combo (i.e. falco dair). You can also do a quick tech roll from there which they wont expect if you haven't done it too often. You can enter shield in 1 frame out of dash IIRC, so...

Difference between nipple spike and regular dair hitbox?

Nipple spike actually spikes, and it's the strongest spike in the game. You know you get it cause it sends them slightly out and down, as opposed to straight down

    Captain falcon percentages with downthrows

you can pressure with dair with overshooting it, just don't be obvious. It's good for tacking on damage and can lead to wonderful pop ups with ample hit stun. It is a laggy move though, so you have to have the proper positioning for it to be safe

Making the Most of The Game's Best Dashdance

learn how to empty pivot. gentleman and jab can be good moves to use, gentleman is good pressure and decent in neutral, just not at low %, since it can be CC'd. Gentleman after a low knee on shield is awesome pressure. Ftilt is a good mix up to catch your opponent, and can be combo'd out of...

Is Captain Falcon a good character for beginners?

I relearned this game through Falcon's lens, and I loved it, but if your friend is someone who can't stand losing and gets frustrated easily... there's probably a better character for him to learn from the start.

What is the point in shield stops

I usually try to think of shield stops mainly as a counter option, (so similar to the last bit you mentioned). If you can manage to PS out of your Shield Stop you can find reversals in high pressure situations; but I pretty much use pivot for everything else. Would be good to learn Shield Stops...

Why you shouldnt buy into hax's opinion on falco

Thank you, I remember stumbling across some projectile mechanics while studying peach, this makes some sense to me. The double damage from shine reflect is interesting, don't think I came across that before.

    What is falcon's worst stage?

It's all MU dependent. Smaller stages are harder for Falcon when he needs space to get away or set the neutral for his advantage, but at the same time, both of the small stages (YS and FoD) have short horizontal blast zones, making the knee even more lethal. I could see taking a Peach to YS...

Why you shouldnt buy into hax's opinion on falco

I forget, is there a mechanic set in place for a limit of Power Shields, or does the damage go up every time or something like that? I vaguely remember that being a thing

    Tech Skill?

When you L-Cancel, you need to input a form of a shield press during your aerial right before you land to get the desired effect. There are two shield inputs, an analog and a digital input. The analog input is the input you use to activate your light shield, and the digital "button" press is for...

    Tech Skill?

I usually try to l cancel on reaction. When you're first learning, you will develop your own rhythm which is good for developing muscle memory, and bad for actual play. There's different timings (offset by hitstun) associated with whiffing an aerial and connecting, either on shield or as a hit...

    Tech Skill?

Try doing whatever tech skill you're trying to preform slowly. Understand what makes it work (E.G. Wave dash works because you're air dodging diagonally into the ground after a jump, and is affected by your traction) and then practice preforming all the individual actions (jump-> air dodge after...
