King Dedede (D3) Tips

King Dedede (D3) Tips

Game Versions
Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U
So, this isn't meant to be a fully fledged guide for King Dedede, just some suggestions, and things to take note of. I feel like I'm qualified to talk about Dedede because I mained him in Brawl, and have played him since the beginning of Smash 4, even maining him at one point. That said, here we go.

D3's frame data is not good, as shown by his frame 10 Jab. Your fastest ground option is d-tilt at frame 6, it's a pretty good get-off-me option for someone rushing you down.

You're combo food. So you're gonna want to keep people out. Your tools for that are f-tilt (good range and long lasting hitbox, can cover roll-ins), d-tilt (as we went over), u-tilt (Useful for covering aerial aproaches because D3's head is invincible for the duration of the move.), and Gordo (good damage, long range, but easily countered, so be careful, and don't spam.)

D3 should not usually be dashing, unless your opponent is using really laggy moves, and you're running in for a grab punish. Your dash attack is... bad. It's only ever useful for a surprise KO because your oponent won't expect it.

d-throw can lead into Nair at low percents, as well as Fair, but Nair is safer because it has less landing lag. Fair and Bair are more useful at mid-low percents because they have better damage, and landing lag won't be as much of an issue. b-throw kills at extremely high percents (around 180) as well as f-throw (at the ledge after 180) but with D3 you shouldn't be getting opponents to that high percent. d-throw can also lead into u-air, which can kill around 100.

Like I said, this isn't a guide, just some tips for Big Float's general play style.
Any advice? let me know. :)
