Atlantic North Dragon's Den Smash Wii U Tournament 14

WELCOME TO THE DEN! This tournament will be the 14th Smash 4 tournament hosted by Dragon’s Den and will feature 1vs1 singles tournament! Dragon's Den also provided pizza and soda for just 5 extra dollars! Bring your A-game and fight for glory, money and a new custom amiibo! We might be in the larger room, but this has not been confirmed and we will do active seeding with the help of another pro player.

***Additional Setups Are NEEDED and will entitle a discount on tournament entry of 50%. Please help us make this tournament run smoothly! Bring a TV or a Wii U! Time: 12:00PM (Registration STARTS at 11AM and Tourney STARTS at 12PM)

Tournament Fee: 10$

Prizes: Cash prize to the top 4 places. Prize will be 50 % of the buy ins from contestants. If an amiibo tournament runs the prize will be a custom amiibo.

• All matches are 2 stock with a 6 minute time limit
• Double elimination
• Best of 3 games, Best of 5 games for Finals
• ALL CHARACTERS ARE LEGAL
• Custom fighters are OFF, including Mii’s... Standard Mii's are legal (1111)
• No items
• Any action to prevent the game from continuing will result in a forfeit for the match.
• Accidental pausing in a match will result in a loss of one stock in game.
• If time runs out the winner it determined by stock and if not by stock then percentage.
• In the event of a percentage tie, there will be a one stock tie breaker match set to 3 minutes on the same stage.
• If a match ends by suicide, such as Ganoncide or Robicide, the initiator wins the match. Bowsercide, DDDcide and others do not constitute a win as many characters can escape.
• Coaching is not allowed

Amiibo Tournament Rules (2 Dollar Buy in)

• All matches are 2 stock, 3 minutes (Amiibos tend to stare and do nothing too often)
• Amiibo may have power ups and custom moves
• No badges that start with items (all others are allowed)

• Final Destination (Can be an omega stage if agreed by both players)
• Battle Field
• Smashville
• Dream Land 64
• Town and City

Counterpicks

• Duck Hunt
• Lylat Cruise
• Omega stages *Treated as Final Destination when banning.

Additional Rules

• Stage Striking: Players take turns striking one stage from the starter stage list. The remaining stage is used for the match. Striking is done as 1-2-1, so one strike followed by two and then one more for each player until 1 stage is left.
• Stage Clause: You cannot counterpick a stage that has been previously won on or played on.
• Stage Bans: Before the second or third match the player that won may BAN one stage with that stage remaining banned for the entire set.
• Gentleman’s rules apply meaning any stage may be played on if agreed between both players.
• Winning player is not locked into same character, but must change BEFORE the losing player.
• Stage striking and picking the stage is done FIRST. Followed by choosing characters (winner chooses first).

Hey, this is Vent. I'm not sure if you guys revamped the rule set, or if this is an old copy/paste. But It looks like the former, and that's good. Glad you guys took off Umbra Clock Tower as a CP, and changed up the starters to be more standard, but some of the additional rules are still off.

I don't want to get into Miis. But essentially I think at least 1111's should be usable. And to be real, it's not like anyone uses them really anyways.

These typically don't exist in Smash 4. All community found infinites have been patched, and "chain grabs" consist of a grab > combo > regrab and depending on the character it can be true. However those are apart of that character and someone shouldn't be penalized for using it. And as for positions, on any legal stage, any character can reach any area. Even Little Mac can reach the top of the tree through clever dog usage(shown here), so I see no reason for this rule. Why blame a player for being patient and using the stage to his advantage?

Why not? As someone who wouldn't really get coached anyways, I see no harm in it. Hell, I've seen coaching occur and it's really not that big of a deal.(Won't call anyone out though.) The loser will still be outplayed. While it may not have been entirely from the winner if they were coached, they still outplayed the loser, with some advice. Most other tournaments allow it too.

"Planking" doesn't exist in Smash 4 due to 2 frames and regrabs. The only scenario where "Planking" exists is either in:
a.) When a Sheik does this. (Which can be punished via a 2 frame or in startup)
b.) When a character is offstage long enough that their invincibility refreshes/when they're hit off the ledge. Which is either super punishable or they've already been punished.
So this rule is also unnecessary.

Now for the additional rules.
Depending on the tournament, there will be different Stage lists, obviously. (For example Super Smash Con has 3 starters, and stages like Delfino and Kongo Jungle in counter picks. While Genesis had 5 starters, and 2 CPs. (FD was a starter and so were all omega variations as well.))

However, judging by this stage list, after RPS or whatever the players decide to do in order to get first ban, the stages should be banned in a 1-2-1 order. That's the standard for rule sets with 5 starters.

Yup. As for starters, people will interchange Lylat and CL64. I personally think Lylat is a CP-esque stage, but the reasoning for it is that if Battlefield is struck, you can basically still go to Battlefield 2 (DL) unless the other player wastes both their strikes on DL and BF. I hope the tournament runs smoothly, and sorry you can't attend .
