General Rules

* This event is held in a public library. Anyone found to be disturbing the staff or customers of the library will be disqualified from the event and removed from the venue. Be respectful of their space, keep the tournaments volume as low as possible until after 4pm when the library closes.

* All sets will be best 2 out of 3 wins, except for Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals which will be best 3 out of 5 wins.

* Bracket will be Double Elimination, which means you must lose 2 sets in order to be eliminated. If there are 64 or more entrants, there will also be pools to determine the final double elimination bracket.

* Pausing during a match, unless approved by the other player, will result in the loss of one stock for the player who pressed the pause button.

* Quitting out of a match before it is over will result in a loss for the player who quits.

* If time runs out, the person with the highest number of stocks left wins. If the players have the same number of stocks when time runs out then the player with the lower % is awarded the victory. If the % is equal as well, play a 1 stock 3 minute match, same characters and stage.

* If the match goes to sudden death due to a self-destruct move the player who initiated the move is awarded the win; otherwise the player displayed as victorious by the game is determined as the winner. The best example of this is Kirby's neutral B offstage.

* In the event that the game crashes or the TV/Switch loses power in the middle of a match, that match will be restarted from the beginning with the same characters and stage. If a player uses a known glitch to intentionally crash the game or otherwise prevent the match from finishing that player will lose the match and may be disqualified at the Tournament Organizer's discretion.

* No excessive stalling. This is up to the judgment of the TO, but in general, stalling is considered making the game unplayable to artificially run the timer of a match (i.e. excessive shino stall, peach bomber stall, luigi ladder)

* No coaching during gameplay. Coaching is only allowed in between matches during the same set if both parties agree but may not last more than 30 seconds. Coaching during a bracket reset is allowed for Grand Finals and May take up to 5 minutes.

* Both players may agree to any rule or stage outside the tournament ruleset; this does not include changing the time limit or stock counts.

* Set Procedure: Each player will choose their character, double blind pick is available by request. Players will then strike from the starter stage list given, and play on the agreed upon stage. For each subsequent game, the winner will announce their stage bans, the loser of the previous game will choose the stage, the winner will choose their character, then the loser will choose their character.

A. Game Settings

● Singles: 3 Stocks, 7 Minute Timer

● Hazard Toggle: Off

● Team Attack: On

● Pause: Off

● Items: None and Off

● Mii Fighters: Set to 1-1-1-1 for Fighter/Swordsman/Gunner

B. Stage List

Starter Stages

● Battlefield

● Final Destination

● Pokemon Stadium 2

Counterpick Stages

● Kalos Pokemon League

● Town and City

● Smashville

● Lylat Cruise

At the start of each set, starter stages will be struck in a 1-1 manner. After the first match, the winner will get to ban 2 stages and the loser will then choose to play on any remaining stage. No DSR in effect.

C. Additional Rules

● Team Colors: Players’ character colors must match their team's color when possible, to avoid confusion (ex: Luigi on the red team must use the red costume).

  • Additionally, Cloud cannot be used on the Blue Team.

● Alternate Controllers: Joy-Cons are allowed, but are discouraged. It is highly recommended to remove the Battery from the Switch Pro Controller and use the charging cable to connect to the Switch. On all wireless controllers, disconnect them from the switch you played on and keep them out of your bag, else you may unintentionally interfere with another match.

● “Default Controls”: The default controls are to remain unchanged. If you need to change controls, make a tag in the system. Those found to be changing the default control scheme, or another persons tag, will be disciplined, including up to removal and blacklisting from venue.
