The Smash scene here at Sam Houston State University would like to kick off the semester with weekly tournaments to get everybody playing the game we all love! :b: This is the first weekly of the year so depending on the attendance, I hope to continue to make adjustments and improve our organization!

If anybody can help bring full setups (which include a CRT, a wii, a brawl disc, and the sd card with the PM files), that would be greatly appreciated! Setups help a lot!

LOCATION

The weekly will be held at Akuma's Cave, a local comic book and gaming store.

Here is their Facebook for convenience: https://www.facebook.com/akumascave?fref=ts

Also, There is no venue fee for this event, nor is there a fee for singles. Since this is the first weekly of the Semester,
the first weekly is free. A fee for singles will be added on as the semester go on.

SCHEDULE

For now there will only be a Singles Bracket.

People can start arriving as early as 3pm for friendlies and such, HOWEVER:

5:30pm - Singles Registration
6:30pm - Singles bracket begins

Id like to ask that while the bracket is happening, that there be no friendlies during that time. Priority of the TVs go to the players in bracket, so if you choose to play friendlies anyway, be aware that you will be asked to stop your game if they need a TV.

RULE SET

Make sure your PM is up to date (the current version is 3.6):

Starter Stage List:
•Green Hill Zone
•Smashville
•Battlefield
•Pokémon Stadium 2
•Delfino's Secret

Counter Pick Stage List:
•Wario Ware
•Fountain of Dreams
•Final Destination
•Yoshi's Island
•Distant Planet

General Rules:
•Items are set to Off and None.
•Stock and Time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes
•Regular sets are best of 3 matches.
•Losers/Winners Semis and Losers/Winner Grand Finals will be best of 5
•The Tournament Host is the arbiter of all disputes.
•Either player may call for a double blind character selection the first match.
•Modified Dave's Stupid Rule: No player can counter pick a stage he or she has previously won on unless agreed upon by both players.
•Gentleman's clause: any stage may be played on so long as both players and the Tournament Host agree to it, including banned stages. This can be used in tandem with the Modified Dave's Stupid Rule (MDSR).
•Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, replay that match. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.
•Quiting out of a match before it's over will result in a match loss for the quitter.
•If a match goes to sudden death due to a suicide move (ex: Ganon's side B) then the player that initiated that move wins the match.
•No excessive stalling (this is determined by TO)
•No coaching midgame (only in between matches)
•Giga bowser and Wario Man are banned

Stage Picking System:
1. Players select characters
2. Starter Stage Striking: Players strike stages form the starter stage list until 1 remains. Stage striking happens in a 1 2 1 order. To determine striking order both players can agree or play rock papers scissors
3. The first match is played
4. Now the stage list is expanded to both the starter stage list and the counter pick stage list. Winner bans 2 stages form this stage list.
5. Loser picks the stage verbally
6. Winner has the opportunity to switch characters if he/she so chooses
7. Loser has the opportunity to switch characters if he/she so chooses
8. The next match is played
9. Repeat 4-8 for each consecutive match until the set is complete
Notes: To strike all non-playable stages press Y on the stage select screen and then use X to strike each stage.

We hope to see you there!
