I'd probably start with a Boss Rush mode, exclusively for those villains and anti-heroes that wouldn't make it playable into the game. Imagine tackling the likes of Wart, Frederick, King Boo and Porky. It's not just limited to an all-out slobber knocker in an arena.. oh, no. How about a whole long hallway-like path where you have to destroy Zebetites and avoid flying Cheerios of Doom, cutting a path of destruction to get to Mother Brain? And if you play on Normal mode or higher, there's a chance for the Mother Brain fight to extend into the Super Metroid incarnation after you win, complete, in both instances, with an escape from Zebes!
How about a traditional face-and-two-hands fight with Andross, both a love letter to Star Fox fans and a clear nod to Wham Bam Rock? An all-out brawl with Ganon, where you have to keep at least one torch lit by attacking it, in order to make Ganon vulnerable? How about a tricky battle with a massive Wily Machine, made exclusively by the good doctor just for Smash? Then, bam, you find yourself on a lunar-like landscape, with stars rushing in the background.. suddenly, Marx appears, threatening you with black holes, flurries of arrows and enormous mouth-fired lasers! Then you're off to a tag-team match: it's Black Knight and Black Shadow both in an attempt to destroy you! Your only saving grace is that they can hurt each other.
Lots of great ways to make a Boss Rush mode a huge love letter to Smash Brothers fans, and a tribute to some of Nintendo's finest villains and anti-heroes. Best of all, you can decide how to tackle Boss Rush in one of two ways:
1.) Play the same character across the span of four lives, or
2.) Play four separate characters, switching as you're KO'ed.
This new Boss Rush mode is sure to please fans of every franchise represented in Smash Brothers!

Masterpiece Adventure
A single-player offering that lets you travel through the different Nintendo worlds on an adventure that will see you freeing the Nintendo universe from the clutches of an out-of-control Nightmare, an old nemesis of Kirby's, who's teamed up with other prominent Nintendo villains in order to throw the universe into an eternal darkness! The Masterpiece Adventure is the most unique Smash Brothers mode you'll ever encounter, because it breaks the mold. You're not playing your typical 2D platforming sidescrolling brawler. You're actually given a chance to see what the origin universe's gameplay is like!
For example, travel to the world of Fire Emblem! On the continent of Ylisse, Chrom and the others battle the forces of Nightmare, corrupt creatures from all cross the Nintendo universe. In this universe, you play a turn-based strategy game across a handful of randomly generated areas. This time, you have a field fringed by mountains on one side, and ocean on the other. Next time, you might be fighting in a castle. Control your chosen Smashers as units and move them independently, or team them up with one another to increase the attack power and stats of the other Smashers!
Hint: Some Smashers have obvious synergy, but try out different combos, like Ness and Mewtwo. You might be surprised at the results!
Once you've helped Chrom and his forces save his universe, you might choose to go to the Land of Hyrule! It's a free roaming 3D landscape, where you choose your favorite Smasher to descend down and help Link battle Nightmare's forces. Each character has its own unique moveset inspired by Smash and their own origin games that he, she or it can use to destroy not just monsters unique to Hyrule, but also from other universes, all corrupted. If you collect Rupees and Coins here in this land, you can trade them in at various shops around Hyrule to decrease your percentage of damage, or even to purchase trophies and other neat aesthetics unique to this particular land. Here, you'll meet Vaati, one of Nightmare's villainous assistants. Will your Smasher be able to overcome his immense magical prowess, or will Vaati's darkest forms consume Hyrule forever?
Finally, descend into the bowels of Zebes to help Samus track down Mother Brain and a shadowy new villain, in an old-fashioned 2D platforming Metroidvania segment. You can go wherever you want, whenever you want to. Exploration is encouraged, but don't forget, Zebes is a dangerous place, full of dangerous enemies! The map is new and unique, allowing for it to be randomly generated each time you go in, as it's a different section of Zebes.. but you can count on there being plenty of familiar faces to engage as you descend, collecting coins, trophies and bonus aesthetic content! QA has told us that the Crocomire battle is one of the trickier fights in this mode, and Crocomire isn't even a force corrupted by Nightmare! Will you succumb to the many dangerous creatures of Zebes? Or will you become lost in its cavernous depths, forced to explore them forever in an attempt to escape?
Last of this list, but certainly not last of the game mode, we answer a prayer for help from Eagleland! Giygas has returned, and his incredible psychic and evil influence is even outstripping Nightmare's influence! Begrudgingly, you and your chosen Smashers call an uneasy temporary truce with Nightmare's forces to fight a common enemy. This particular mode also encourages exploration and speaking with NPC's, who might even give you gifts! Shops can be found here and there, again, with plenty of ways to spend your accumulated coins! Your Smashers gain level ups (which persist throughout various playthroughs) and battles are played out in the traditional Earthbound/Mother style. Your chosen fighters will SMAAAASSSSHHHH! their way through Giygas' brainwashed forces and killer robots in an attempt to find a way to stop him once and force all. Simply put, the final battle in this universe, with assistance from Paula, Duster, Kumatora, and the very Nightmare you're trying to overcome, will blow you away.. you'll not be able to grasp the true form of this battle until you finally see it yourself!
Truly, the magnum opus of game modes! Explore the unique and varied worlds of Nintendo by yourself, or with a friend! Unlock aesthetics with coins you've earned in the game mode, or outside the game mode during actual fights in other game modes! How you tackle this mode is completely up to you!
