One of the ladies was me, I was bored as hell.

Your husbando still sucks.

Edit - Actually, i just only noticed now that the picture is not a thumbnail that Chrom is holding Robin's robe. I thought he was just rage-clenching. :(

I hope you know that having multiple accounts is against the rules.

Question; what's the general consensus on Tiki around here? Haven't bothered reading through all 178 pages, so I'm not sure.

She'd be neat. I don't think she's particularily likely, but she'd be neat.

Dammit, IS, why do you constantly recycle the same character designs?

She has her group of supporters. But most people seem to prefer more sword-wielding lords.

I don't know that people prefer sword-wielding Lords, so much as they expect them. I personally would like Tiki, in the most games when it comes to being playable, and would represent the Manakete, which is a key aspect of Fire Emblem. I don't expect her at all.

Also sad, I missed a chance to call dibs on Chrom. Though there are other Awakening males to claim I suppose. Hong can have Chrom for now.

In FE: I liked her better in Marth's game where she acted like a little kid and had a bit more personality, but her appearance in Awakening was also a fun cameo. Not sure about giving her a soft spoken voice with a British accent though.

In Smash: Due to number of appearances, like Anna and the Whitewings, she's deserving of at least a trophy, but no more than an Assist Trophy. Betting on the former.

Also has some of the most appearances in the series, and the only story character to transcend generations beyond realms.]

Anna doesn't count.

And yeah. If there is no way a character is going to show up, generally people don't get too worked up.

There's room for three.

What the heck happened in the last few pages? O.o

Anyway, I do think Tiki's a cool character. I'm hoping she'll appear in Smash in some way (don't think she's likely as a playable character though).

WAIT THERE WERE DIBS ON FE CHARACTERS!?!

Hmm... me, Hong, and Chrom... I'm down. *hugs for both*

And I specified playable just so I didn't have to hear an argument about Anna. :p I would love to see a Manakete. Just like I hope to see Chrom with the Fire Emblem.

The thing is, much like my new avatar, if I want it, it's MINE.

Chrom is nothing but a FotM. Whenever the next delicious moursel comes into my eyes, I will drop him like last week's news and move onto the next.

But if you're okay with hand-me-downs, he's all yours. :troll:

Some harmless MSM. You get to fulfill your fantasies, Chrom makes a little extra coin for the Yllsien treasury. Win/win. And I get to watch, Win/Win/Win.
Your labeling me as a prostitute!? You think I'm a petty hooker you see in the dark allies, begging for ***** in exchange for food and money?

WELL, SIR, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I DO NOT ENGAGE IN SUCH ACTS. I AM A DIGNIFIED VALIANT GENTLEMAN WHO BELIEVES IN JUSTICE AN ELOQUENCE. FOR LABELING ME AS SUCH A THING, YOU ARE NOW NO LONGER ALLOWED TO MY POOL PARTIES AND YOU'LL BE PUNISHED IF YOU STEP ON THE PREMISES.

(Also, having anal with Chrom isn't my fantasy. My fantasy is to rule the world with giant mutant jumping spiders.)

I have no issues. It might be awkward since I also like Inigo as Chrom's son in particular, and I don't know how Chrom would feel about that. And evil Robin is cute too. I also suck at staying on topic.

My idea for Eirika takes a simple character, uses simple concepts, but they become interesting when taken into the environment of Super Smash Bros. Check it out in the spoiler below.

Eirika Moveset

She is a light-weight character, and as a fencer, she can be fast! While she is not a purely offensive character, her safest bet is close to her enemies. If you are a fan of dash-dancing, jukes, forcing mistakes out of your enemy and capitalizing on them, Eirika is for you! Similarly, if you like either of the two flag-ship boxing characters from Street Fighter, you should feel right at home. She wields a modest rapier.

Specials

B: Sacred Twins
Eirika places her rapier into the scabbard and faces away from the camera as she begins to fade. Borrowing a page from a certain green-haired Sacaen, she begins to flicker away. As B is held, two images appear to her side, and up to two more, to a maximum of four images.

When B is released, Eirika will vanish and cut attacks will be delivered to the nearest enemy before her. Every image generated adds more range, more cuts (up to five), and more ending lag, with the last strike packing the launch power. You can hit R to cancel this technique at any time, hold down to fake, and up to take to the air from a grounded position.

This move is certainly not meant to be used in close-quarters, but to get back into close range.

B Forward: Speedwing
Use this to have Eirika advance forward while side-stepping at the same time. Press B again before she finishes to deliver a horizontal slice. This move is unique from other side Specials in that if you issue the command opposite from the way you are facing fast enough, Eirika will hop backwards without changing her direction.

Regardless of how you use it, Eirika gains a blue blur for a few seconds when the command is initiated, and she cannot use Speedwing again until it has faded.

As you get better with Eirika, you will find this becomes your preference over rolling, but you must carefully balance the two and use them as necessary. This one is certainly better for approaching, especially against projectiles.

B Down: Counter
Eirika trips her attacking enemy. This has the fewest dud frames of any Counter move.

You have time to hit the enemy with fast low attacks before they hit the ground, or let them hit the ground to opt-in for a tech chase to gain an advantage.

B Up: Comrade
Using this move will cause a Pegasus Rider* to swoop in from the side of the stage closest to Eirika, and she will grab on for a moment or until B is released. She is invincible while holding onto the Pegasus, though this move is naturally less responsive towards the centre of the stage.

This move has a 47% chance to call the stalwart and loyal Vanessa, 47% chance to call her best friend Tana, and a 6% chance to call a rather bitter *Cormag. Merely a cosmetic detail, but they all have their own vocal quips, with Cormag being rather reluctant.

Smash Attacks

Forward: Her critical animation: A step back, with a great lunge forward. Good for punishes.
Downward: Standing low sweep kick. Compared to Zelda, Eirika is much more athletic, and pops the enemy up with fixed launch power for setups.
Up: Eirika pulls out a Killing Edge for her other hand and crosses her arm before sweeping in a crossing arc above her.

Normals

Neutral: Press A for a single horizontal thrust, A again for a rain of sword thrusts, and A again for a final fierce advancing horizontal cut.
Forward Tilt: Pulls her arm back and goes for a strong mid-thrust.
Down Tilt: Crouching stab. This is similar to Marths, but a rapid attack more like Ness.
Up Tilt: Swishes the sword above her head in a circle.
Dash Attack: Leaping round-house kick, landing into a side kick.

Aerials

Neutral: Single spin-kick
Forward: Spins the sword elegantly in her hand before her for a rapid-hitting attack, best used to chain a combo.
Backwards: Raises her sword forward before turning to slash back.
Down: Pulls out the Killing Edge again for another double cut, this time below.
Up: A very quick upward arcing slash. Compared to others, this is very fast and you can chain multiple.

Throws

Pummel: Mash the A button to deliver fast thrust attacks into the enemy.
Forward: Raises the enemy and delivers an upward vertical cut.
Back: Steps forward and thrusts her sword backwards to her side and into the enemy.
Down: A single low kick to trip the enemy, followed by a quick hop to stomp on them.
Up: Tosses the enemy up, vanishes, and cuts them horizontally in mid-air.

Final Smash: Sacred Stones

Ephraim appears and they touch bracelets. Lighting will fan out across the stage. Anyone struck is stunned and brought to ground level. The two Renais twins will each take a side of the stage and mount their horses, charge and cross. Enemies in the middle are struck by both lords, and are a likely KO, while it is more probable to survive if you are near the outside.

Pffft, we all know that Roy was a flavour of the month. It's not like Sakurai tried to bring him back in Brawl or anything.

While that's true, the situation has changed for Roy. In Brawl, Ike was added over Roy due to being a higher priority. Roy was still going to be included as the third Fire Emblem character (and he had no real competition for that since he was a veteran) after Ike because the series was obviously deemed to be worthy of three characters. Then, likely due to Sonic's inclusion, he didn't make it.

So now:

A: We have Chrom, Lucina, and Robin who are in similar positions to the one Ike was in pre-Brawl and who Intelligent Systems are more likely to recommend to Sakurai should he ask,

B: Roy has already been cut and now needs more work than your average veteran since they can't just port up from Brawl like they can for most, and, as such, he's now competing with the likes of the other potential Fire Emblem newcomers for the third slot,

And, C: If Sakurai chooses to add a new, unique character before a clone (like he did with Ike and which he very well might do this time as well since he seems to be focusing on unique characters) Roy is basically out.

(And, D: He only got in Melee because Sakurai opted to make six clones for roster padding (rather than a unique character like Dedede), and we're likely getting close to 50 character this time around, so that's no longer an issue at all.)

He's comparable to Dr. Mario in that he was a clone that was low on the priority list for Brawl and he was ultimately cut, so now he has to compete with other characters within his own franchise getting in before him. The only difference is that Roy's a lot more popular.

I mean, he's still more than possible, but he has his fair share of problems which could be considered genuine reasons for not including him again. It's not just because he was flavor of the month.

Ah...

I think you misunderstood me. I was joking on the "Roy's a flavour of the month" thing, though it's my fault for being not clear. In fact, there are many things that indicate he wasn't.

- There have been [Japanese] polls in the past where the majority of voters expressed negative responses to Roy's cut
- Roy has high popularity in Japan, and is high up there in the West too
- Sakurai wanted him to return. Yes, the priorities were different at the time, and I think most of the focus was getting new faces out there (Sonic and all content may have also been a factor). However, Sakurai's intention was for Roy to return (can't say it will be the same for Smash 4)

If Roy was a flavour of the month, he wouldn't have so many people react negatively to his cut, Sakurai wanting him to return in Brawl, and high popularity, especially now after all these years. He would have just been a character with his popularity burning out faster than the uses of the SoS, and literally replaced with Ike.

So after we get our flavor of the month character like Chrom, what's next for the FE franchise in Super Smash Bros?
Are we going to keep it at 3 FE reps Marth, Ike, Chrom for the next gazillion installments while you still are attached to the characters?

Who said we're getting Chrom? It's all about that Robin! :chuckle:

My "while that is true" took into account your sarcasm. I should have been the one clarifying.

-Of course there was a lot of backlash over that. Any character being cut causes backlash. But is that enough to get him included? I'm not sure there.
-He was popular, but he's probably behind Chrom now if we're talking about the general public.
-Sakurai did want him to return, but that could have very easily been because of the different situation of the time. That's basically the amin thing that my post was getting at.

Why do you say this? Keep in mind that Awakening, as successful as it was, still only managed to sell 1M units. Melee sold over 7 times that amount, so if we're going by "recognition," then Roy would still come out on top.

Honestly I think Roy and Chrom are about equal to each other in about every way, so it's just personal preference as to who should get in at this point.

My mistake. I overestimated how many sales Awakening sold. Consider that point null.

Explain Pichu, Young Link, and Dr. Mario then.
I probably should have phrased that differently, I admit. Any decently popular character being cut causes backlash. Pichu and Dr. Mario were hardly the most popular characters in Melee, and Toon Link is practically an updated Young Link. The backlash over Roy is about what I would expect if Wolf or Lucas was cut this time around.
