This is the preview event for our new tournament series - Smash Forward!! This Super Smash Bros. for 3DS tournament will be hosted on this Sunday, and has the potential to become a weekly series!

This series will soon become a consistent event, so be prepared for more Smash action happening in the Philadelphia area!

Venue: Temple University Student Center
The easiest way to find us is to enter in the side entrance on 13th street, and make a right as soon as you enter.

Event Fee: $5
Entry Fee: $5

Doubles will happen if there is time/interest

The event fees goes towards the hosting of the event. We'll be taking care of it with quality hosting, advertisement, and bringing a lot of great equipment to the event! That means one of the best Smash streams around, equipment for the venue to spectate a 3DS event, and save up money to prepare for equipment for Smash for Wii U tournaments as well! The entry fees are returned completely to the winners!

Every entrant must bring their own system and copy of the game to compete. You may use the US or Japanese version of the game. Only the full version is allowed, you can not use the demo version.

You are responsible for unlocking all content in the game you wish to use.

Time: You may arrive as early as 2pm
We will start the event at about 3pm
You may show up earlier if you want since the building is open, but the hosts won't be there to coordinate everything until 2pm.

Livestream: http://twitch.tv/clashtournaments

Payout:
60/30/10
May be modified based on entrants
100% of the entry fees collected will be paid back to the winners

The event will be run in Swiss Format, with a number of rounds and size of top cut determined by amount of entrants

Ruleset:
-3 stock
-8 minute timer
-Starter stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Yoshi's Island
-Counterpick stages: Prism Tower, Brinstar, Rainbow Road
-All omega (final destination) versions of every stage are allowed, and count as Final Destination, except for game one, where only the original Final Destination can be used
-Custom moves are allowed
-Equipment is banned
-All characters are legal
-No items
-Best of 3 for all sets, except for best of 5 for Grand Finals
-The game will continue to play in the event of lag or wireless issues provided that the game continues. Players may agree to restart a game if it is early enough in the match. If an entire match is discontinued, call a TO for a ruling.

Set Procedure:
-Players may elect a blind pick of characters
-Players decide who will strike first by means of Rock/Paper/Scissors
-Each player strikes one stage from the starter list, and game one is played on the remaining stage
-The winner of the previous game bans one stage from their opponent's counterpick if they have yet to ban a stage yet this set (a player may later counterpick any stage that they have banned, unless their opponent also banned it)
-The loser of the previous game announces the stage. The player may choose any Omega (Final Destination) version of a stage if the opponent did not ban Final Destination. This player may not pick a counterpick stage that they have already won on this set.
-The previous winner picks their character (customs included)
-The previous loser picks their character

Ask any questions here in the event thread!

This event is open to everyone! Please let us know if you're coming and spread the word!

Not yet fully familiar with 3DS ruleste yet. Are we allowed to know the opponent's custom moves before the match starts?

I haven't figured out a proper way to determine this yet, neither have other TOs. I would say it's appropriate for an opponent to tell you at the start of a match if they are using customs or not, but not necessarily which ones yet. Then they can only change customs when they can change their character (counterpicking process), and let you know if they are.

Last time there was Melee and PM but I didn't bring a controller because I didn't know. Will there be Melee and PM again?
