Project M Ruleset:

1. 4 Stocks
2. 8 Minute Time Limit
3. Items set to “Off” and “None”
4. Buffer set to OFF
5. Dave’s Stupid Rule: No player can counter pick a stage he or she won on unless agreed upon by both players.
6. In the event of a match going to time/sudden death, the winner will be determined by:
a. Whoever has more remaining stock left.
b. If stocks of both players are the same, the winner will then be determined by whoever has less percent.
c. If the match ends with both players dying at the same time or if time ran out with both players at equal percent, an identical rematch of the previous match will be played out. Same characters and same stage.
d. In the event of going to sudden death because of suicide kill move (such as Ganon's overB or Dedede's inhale), the player initiating the move will be declared the winner.
7. Sets will be best out of 3 games. Loser's Finals, Winner's Finals, and Grand Finals will be best out of 5.
8. Coaching is allowed only if the opponent agrees that its okay BEFORE the match.

Addendum for Doubles
1. Team Attack set to “On”
2. Life stealing is allowed. (Note that lifestealing in Project: M is done by pressing A+B, rather than Melee's start)
3. In the event of a game going to time, the winner will be determined by:
a. Whichever team has more remaining stock.
b. If both teams have an equal amount of combined stocks, then whichever team has a lower combined percent is declared the winner.

Character/Stage Selection Process
1. Blind Picks character selection.
2. Stage Striking: Players eliminate stages from the Starter Stage List until only 1 remains, and the players then play the first match on that stage. Players strike stages in 1 2 1 order.
3. The first match is played.
4. Winning player of the preceding match bans two stages.
5. The losing player of preceding match picks stage for the next match.
6. The winning player of preceding match picks character.
7. The losing player picks character.
8. The next match is played.
9. Repeat 4-8 for all consecutive matches as necessary until the set is complete.
This event will be using a modified Dave's Stupid Rule - players are not allowed to counterpick to the stage where they most recently won.

Other Rules
1. The Tournament Organizer is the arbiter of all disputes.
2. BYOC (Bring your own controller): Players are expected to bring their own controller and be prepared for every tournament set.
3. DQ Rule: Arriving too late for a match will result in a DQ. Player(s) will have 5 minutes to show up before a loss of the first match. 5 more minutes results in a loss of the set. For doubles, both players on a team need to be present in order to play.
4. MikeHaze rule: No intentionally disrupting players, whether physically or vocally. This applies to EVERYONE, players and spectators. Simply talking to the players (and Hype moments) are exempt.
5. Gentleman's Clause: Any change to the rules is permitted if agreed upon by both players, except for the 8 minute time limit.
6. Textures are Cool Clause: You're welcome to bring your set up to the tournament with them, but please do not have any disruptive music, hard to see textures, or dramatically altered character models or stages. If you have a problem with the set up you're playing on, notify the TO and we'll get it resolved ASAP.
7. Giga Bowser is Banned.
8. WarioMan is Banned.
9. Darkgun is a Dumb Rule:Two players may enter as the same singles entrant (both paying entry) on a team comprised of Sopo (Team Attack set to On.) On the one hand, I don't know if this is a good idea. On the other, I would be impressed if someone pulled this off.

PM Stage List:

Starters: 1:2:1

Battlefield
Green Hill Zone
Pokemon Stadium 2
Delphino's Secret
Smashville

Counter Picks: Ban 2

Fountain of Dreams
Wario Land
Final Destination
Distant Planet
Norfair

Smash 4 Stage List:
* Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals will be best 3 out of 5. All other sets will be best 2/3.

* 2 stock (3 stock for Teams)

* 6 minute timer (8 minutes for Teams)

Stages: (IMPORTANT - THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE UP TO THE LAST FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT PENDING COMMUNITY FEEDBACK)

Stage List:
Starters:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Smashville

Counterpicks:
Delfino Plaza
Duck Hunt
Town and City
Omega Stages
Kongo Jungle 64
Halberd

* Choosing a starter is done by a stage-striking process. The stage striking is done by 1-1 starting with the player with the higher seed.

* The player who did not win the most recent game chooses the stage during counterpicking.

* Each player is allowed two stage bans per set. A player may choose to select a stage they have banned as their counterpick. Banning Final Destination also bans any Omega Mode stage.

* Players have 2 minutes in between games to determine any ban(s) or counterpick stage. Anyone in excess of this rule will receive a game loss.

* Items set to “off” and “none.”

* Either player may call for a Double Blind character selection for the first match. The player requesting the Double Blind will notify either the Tournament Organizer, or an approved Judge, that they want a Double Blind selection. The player submitting the request will inform the TO/Judge which character they plan to select, then their opponent chooses their character on the character select screen, then the player who requested the Double Blind chooses their character on the character select screen.

This event will be using a modified Dave's Stupid Rule - players are not allowed to counterpick to the stage where they most recently won.

* For teams, Team Attack is on and stock sharing is allowed. The same stage list will be utilized for both Singles and Doubles.

* Pausing during a match, unless approved by the other player, will result in the loss of one stock for the player who pressed the pause button.

* Quitting out of a match before it is over will result in a loss for the player who quits.

* If time runs out, the person with the highest number of stocks left wins. If the players have the same number of stocks when time runs out then the player with the lower % is awarded the victory. If the % is equal as well, play a 1 stock 3 minute match, same characters and stage.

* If the match goes to sudden death due to a self-destruct move the player who initiated the move is awarded the win; otherwise the player displayed as victorious by the game is determined as the winner. Examples of this are Ganondorf''s Side-B, Kirby's Neutral-B, etc.

* Custom controls are allowed, but controllers modified to enhance performance are not.

* No excessive stalling. You know what this means.

* No coaching during a match. Consulting someone between matches is allowed as long as the match finishes within the two-minute time frame between matches.

* Both players may agree to any rule or stage outside the tournament ruleset; this does not include extending match.

* Equipment and Custom Moves are NOT allowed in the main event.

* Collusion of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification without refund. Collusion is defined as "Any secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others." An example of collusion is splitting the event winnings and determining the winner of the event without playing, or manipulating the intended rules to give one player an unfair advantage over others.
