Ness's PSI Magnet only works against the thunders of newb pikachus. PSI Magnet activates WAY too slowly, and once you disactivate it, Pikachu can thunder and you won't be able to reactivate PSI Magnet fast enough.

You cannot PSI Magnet once Pikachu uses Thunder. It's too slow to activate. You need to predict Pika will use it, and this is where Pikachu is able to play mindgames with you. He can just wait for you to deactivate psi magnet and then thunder.

Airdodging > psi magnet for avoiding pika's thunder.

I would suggest doing a momentum bounce PSI Magnet if you plan to absorb PK Thunder, since you can move while doing it, making it harder for Pikachu to punish.

How do you do that again? Does it require Bsticking, cause that's no good news to Ness players. :p

Ness is good against Pikachu, but Lucas has slightly better tools to make him a "counter".

For one thing, Lucas CAN use PSI magnet to absorb thunder/thundershock and then knock Pikachu away with the actual attack. his Fsmash is also faster and more suited for reflecting the projectiles right back.

Ness's Yo-yos are great against Pikachu as fast smash attacks though, which Lucas lacks in comparison.
