PLEASE BRING SETUPS! I am willing to pick up and drop back off CRTs for the event. The more setups we have, the more matches played! If you have a setup but do not want to lug a CRT television or Gamecube/melee copy on public transportation, then post here or on facebook. POWER STRIPS AND EXTENSIONS ALSO NEEDED. Please add your information onto the setup list if you are bringing items:

MBTA
The venue is directly by the Ruggles T-stop off the Orange line and commuter rail. Also, it is only a short walk from the Northeastern T-stop off the Green Line.

Parking
There is street parking but it may be tough to find a spot. Along Columbus Ave, there are signs that say "2 hour parking limit" they usually don't check, but park at your own risk. Parking meters stop running at 6:00pm so if you find a spot with a meter, take it. There are meters along Huntington Ave and Parker St. There is also a garage right next to the venue, if you'd prefer:

Renaissance Parking Garage

Food
There are plenty of places to grab food along Tremont Street and along Huntington Ave (on the other side of Ruggles train station). There's also pizza, Popeye's, Taco bell, and more in the Curry Student Center. If you really want to stay close by, another option is the dining hall located IN THE VENUE. The price for dinner is $16.75, buffet style, and the menu for the day of the event is here (select the Dinner tab):

Schedule
4:00pm - Venue opens
5:30pm - Registration begins
6:30pm - Registration ends
7:00pm - Tournament begins

Ruleset
1. 4 stocks
2. 8 Minute time limit
3. Pause is turned off
4. Items set to "Off" and "None"
5. Wobbling is legal
6. Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e. Ice Climber's Freeze Glitch or Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, etc) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.
7. The act of stalling is banned. Stalling is intentionally making the game unplayable, such as continuing Infinite's past 300% or reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Peach's wall-bombing or Jigglypuff's rising pound CAN be used as long as it is not for the purpose of stalling for a period greater than 30 seconds.
8. In the event of a match going to time, the winner will be determined in the following order:
- More remaining stock
- Less percentage
If the match ends with both players dying at the same time or if time ran out with both players at equal stock and percent, an identical rematch of the previous match will be played out. Same characters and same stage.
9. Match sets in both pools and Pre-lim bracket are best 2 out of 3 games. Winners finals, losers final, and grand finals will be best 3 out of 5 games.
10. If pools are done, placement is determined first by game win percentage. In the event of a tie, it then goes to set win percentage, then head to head matchup.
11. The TO reserves the right to override or reinterpret any rule if absolutely necessary. Another TO must be present and agreeing at the ruling.

Set Procedure Advanced Slob Picks
1. Port priority is determined. If it cannot be agreed on, you may rocks, paper, scissors for it.
2. Each player selects one controller port to use.
3. Each player selects one character, a double blind pick may be called by either player.
4. The first game is played on a stage selected from the 5 Neutral Stages (listed below) by the Stage Striking Method. The order of stage striking will be 1-2-1; the player with the higher port priority strikes first. (Player A strikes 1 stage from neutral stage list, then the lower port Player B strikes another 2 stages left from the list, followed by Player A making the final stage strike)
5. The first match is played.
6. The player that won the previous match may announce one "Stage Ban" for the set. Stage Ban will not be in effect in Grand Finals.
7. The player that lost the previous match announces the stage for the next match from either the Neutral Stage List or the Counterpick Stage List. When a player wishes to counterpick a stage that is not on the Neutral Stage List or Counterpick Stage List, the selected stage is only permitted if both players agree to do so. Any stage named as a "Stage Ban" by either player may not be selected.
8. The player that won the previous match chooses their character.
9. The player that lost the previous match chooses their character.
10. The next match is played.
11. Repeat steps 6-10 for all proceeding matches until a winner for the set is determined.

Conduct
1. BYOC Bring your own controller!
2. Cosmetic changes to controllers (paint jobs, different color plastics) are allowed, but controller mods of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc) are banned.
3. Turbo or programmed buttons of any kind are banned.
4. You are responsible for your own equipment. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility.
5. Intentional forfeiting, match fixing, splitting, and any other form of bracket manipulation are not allowed and punishable as seen fit by the TO.
6. No player substitutions are allowed.
7. Coaching is allowed only between games, not during. Failure to adhere to this will lead to punishment at the TO discretion.
8. DQ Rule: Arriving too late to a match will result in a DQ. Players will have 5 minutes to show up before a loss of the first game. 5 more minutes results in a loss of the match.
9. The TO has the right to save/record any tournament match if possible and has the right to upload said match.
10. By entering the tournament, you agree to play your matches on the setup requested by a tournament organizer whether it be a stream, recording, or non-recording setup.
11. Disrupting your opponent physically or intending to disrupt their play (eg. screaming in a player's ear) will result in a warning. Repeated action will result in disqualification from the tournament and possibly ejection from the venue.

So I'm completely new to this so this may be a stupid question, but can I go just to watch at least part of it or is it a players only event?
