Not quite sure, the song is about a breakup and sadness. In the beginning, it talks about the goodbye flowing and smeared on your cheek like blood. Obviously it means tears. Guy doesn't love her back, so they break up. They get back together though (I think, just says "let's not move away"). Maybe just because of the mention of blood they have a lot of blood. He also says his heart is black and burned.
