Glad everyone enjoyed themselves! I'm so happy things went wellsl. Shoutouts later
Yeah I agree, this tournament was really well run and I had a great time.

Well, except for finding out that some jerk defaced the paper with my name on it that I put on my Gamecube :glare:

Shoutouts after full results are posted.

Watching the stream for Project M, I know I wouldn't have placed Top 5... Grats to everyone who placed high. It was a good stream.

...I guess good job to all the other games too.

I played both games in a lot of friendlies with people.

There was a LOT more just random super scrubby free mode players in melee. Those are usually the ones who usually leave the tournament immediately after getting knocked out of the tournament.

For reals though. Coming to Canada made me feel like I was good at melee. And I know im not.

Dang it. Brawl really is slowing down.

Brawl isn't so much slowing down, it's just that Toronto has a smaller scene (usually 20ish people at locals) and it's not as easy for Americans to come to Toronto for tournaments as it is for them to go to tournaments in America (This was probably a factor in M2K going to GUTS instead of this).

Basically the location of this tournament is probably the main factor in the lowish number of entrants

shoutouts:

First and foremost, a big ups has to go to my boy Tin Man. For throwing this amazing event. I can tell you love what you do, and you are good at it and I have complete confidence that you will be going on to much bigger and much better things. Im sorry to see you go. But I have the utmost confidence in your ability to create your ideal future. For all you've done, as young as you are, it blows me away, that you could pitch a video game tournament to a swanky hotel like that and be successful in every major aspect of it. You have a very very bright future. Make sure you continue to strive forward and never settle. Good luck man.

shout outs to ally for being a bro. winning the tournament. (I wish I had remember to side bet on you with someone) and for getting salty at our doubles friendlies on the stage when I beat you in the one on one =P

Zinoto, for being a chill guy. with youre name on a scarf that you wore through most all of the tournament. stylin on em. also thanks for the games. Sonic vs diddy is a fun matchup and I hope I can play you again.

Will, for being dat dude. bustin dudes with dk. teaming with you in melee was amazingly hilarious. i told you, mango/unknown was a warm up round that we were gonna lose but then we went on a tear through losers. those were honestly some of the most one sided teams matches Ive ever played in my life that we played with those people in losers. but I think we could actually do really well if we teamed in brawl too. I do super good with characters that can kill. SKTAR mayhaps?

Dabuz, for being able to speak the most words with the least amount of actual mouth movement possible. and for getting that money. and for finding a way to fall in love with the most annoying character in literally every game you play. and for being able to still hustle people by pretending to be a random scrub. too goodz

Leon, always fun games. and I never feel bad losing to you because i never feel like I get gayed by your character. youre just that smart of a player, as long as youre not getting impatient and trying to catch a sonic. =P

Holy. Good match sir. I gotta be more patient against you. I just dont respect your character enough. I forgot how small you and your brother are. it makes me feel better that even if I lose in the game, ill always be able to take you in an actual fight lol.

RTF: for being the best at road trips and for letting me take your car to toronto for a tournament you didnt even play in. you also chose a sweet restaurant to eat at after. Im glad the weekend worked out for both of us.

MeekSpeedy: Good job finally proving me wrong and fully asserting your superiority.

V115: What I said to meek goes double to you, I respect the work you put into the tournament as well.

Red X: You put a lot of work into making sure this tournament ran smoothly as well, thanks for the effort. And although we werent able to play, I could tell you have definitely improved a ton since the first time I played you (mostly in your character selection lol) good job putting in that work in brawl and in PAS.

Pidgezero1: <3 u Stef. thanks for being fun, and awesome, and tall. Im kinda tight you beat me in doubles, but I cant take it away from you. good stuff. Unfortunately, I walked around Toronto for an hour lookign for Smoke's at 1 inthe morning, and had to return home poutine-less. But you know what that means? just means I gotta come back to Toronto and hang with everyone again, and have you take me for poutine personally.

Inle: For being WAYYYY better than any last second teammate that Ive ever gotten before. We put in DAT WERK. We probably should have practiced a bit more to get our synergy down though. I feel like thats why we lost to Zinoto/Stef. But we picked it up hard in losers. You have a lot of potential. The only thing you need to do is to stop getting so down on yourself when you make a mistake. You get pissed and start yelling/apologising. Dont do that. everyone sds sometimes, just pick yourself up, focus on the game, and come back harder. The past is dead. theres no use dwelling on it in those situations. Once you learn how to keep your composure better, you probably improve a ton.

Patches: for bee-lining straight at me as soon as you showed up in the venue and making sure I money matched you. respect. Sucks you had to leave early though. You seemed like a nice guy, and your girl was stylin.

Riddlebox: for totally not looking like tinman at all... and for dodging me when I tried to play melee with you after our first exchange.

Iliad: for dressing classy as a mofo, both days of the tournament. Swaggin on em. Also, for being hilarious with me.

Bing: good matches, and thanks for all the work you put in in organizing the event. The only time I even got to see you play the game was with me after midnight on day one. Thats a big sacrifice and I respect the hell out of you for it.

Adnan: You put in madd work running melee, good stuff.

KingKong for getting out of pools with a bottom tier character. It might just be because I play sonic, but I honestly dont understand how anybody loses to that character. You be a special player in that case.

By-Chance and the rest of the Buffalo guys for going out of region to play your game and winning money in All-Stars. Theres not much of a scene for that game but I respect you for at least trying to travel for your game.

KirbyKaze, for hooking us up with some parking, and for being just a cool guy even if you didnt enter or play anything.

Shinzou Matt. I thought you were stupid. But as it turns out, youre just wayyyy too much of a sonic fanboy and dont have a full grasp on English yet. so my bad for jumping to conclusions. youre a pretty cool guy.

Cloud for being the last guy I played before I dipped. we got some good matches, and I hope you upload them (except for that one, burn that one. )

Unknown, good job on winning doubles, and also great job for not attacking anybody or choking anybody out for the entire event. I know that's a pretty hard feat for you to accomplish these days.

Shoutouts to everyone in the venue Saturday night, that responded properly when I screamed out for someone to call an ambulance. And again a few minutes later, when I told everyone to back up off of the guy who was on the ground and to give him some space. Good stuff to everyone for listening and paying attention and responding quickly and appropriately

Shoutouts to all the dudes that brought their attractive girlfirends to the tournament. you made the event a much more enjoyable experience for me. I would never think of trying to hit on or pick up a girl at a tournament. But it is nice to not have to look at goofy looking nerds the ENTIRE day. lol.

Callouts:

Call outs to NAKAT for dodging me like a chump the entire weekend. I hit you up for games like 3 or 4 different times, and you made up excuses every time. i was even offering you free money... all good though, you still cool people.

Orion, for trolling me and telling me that you didnt even enter and then turning around and getting 3rd place. you good people too though.

Doom. You seem to hate my guts on facebook so I wasnt expecting you to be so happy go lucky and flip the script on me like that when I saw you. Madd two-faced. lol.

Anybody who met me over the weekend can feel free to add me on fb.

The last impulse had less events (i think), mk banned and yet had more people.

This impulse had more games, mk legal and had less people.

Not saying this is a reflection of TOing (from what ive heard hes awesome at his job) im just saying i think brawl is def on the decline. Not just there but all over.

Good **** Juggleguy, KJH, and Zinoto for gettin stuff done here. And I guess that kzhu guy, who has some seriously unlegit secondaries ^_-; Good stuff to ThuGz and HIV too, who probably put in work.

Also since smash has the distinction of teams being pairs, I always like seeing team names that are combos of the two players. Thus seeing 'Mangford' and 'Topheon-X' makes me smile :]

This Impulse had more entrants actually. This includes this Impulse being a year after the last one and now having MK legal so it is actually a pretty good incline if anything.

Here are last year's Impulse results as proof: http://www.smashboards.com/threads/impulse-canadas-brawl-melee-major-official-results.324899/

also, big call out to firefly for being a HUGE lame and dropping yoshi for MK. #ScumbagFirefly. I mean, I know yoshi is bad, but like you could at least gone to falco or wario or something before you just went all-in with the grime like that.

Sorry Luke, but I can't let you take credit for that. My switch to MK was a decision that came from the heart.

Huge shoutouts to Croi for getting his batch of videos uploaded so quickly. I'll attempt to give more thorough shoutouts after the full results are posted.
