I'd like this information to be archived in one post. I'm not claiming credit for discovery of this or claiming this to be 100% accurate, I'm just pasting what I have read elsewhere. If you have more information or details please let me know.

Here's what I have so far:

Captain Falcon: Beat Classic Mode on Normal

Falco: Encounter in SSE

Jigglypuff: Complete Event match #20

Lucario: Defeat him in Subspace. You must choose Meta Knight as your character for this fight.

Luigi: Beat Classic on Easy

Marth: Beat Classic or play 15 vs matches. (some say you must use Ike in classic, others don't)

Ness: Play 5 multiplayer matches, reflect 10 projectiles, or "convince him to join you" in SSE.

Sonic: Complete Subspace Emissary

Snake: Encounter in SSE or play 10 vs matches on Shadow Moses Island.

Wolf:
To unlock Wolf, go to the stage "iseki" (Ruins). If you can't read Japanese and don't know which stage that is, it's in the eastern mountainous area, and the level has a lot of moving platforms and fire shoots from traps on the ceiling floor very often. Part-way through the level, you'll get to a flat platform that lowers you down a huge pit, and while being lowered down, there are large crystal spikes on the walls that will come out at you... On the way down, you'll see a door, which is likely the one most of us went in because it looks like you fall into a pit if you keep going down. Nevertheless, skip that door, and stay on that platform until it disappears. At the bottom of the pit is another door. Go in that one, and there will be Wolf cutscene.

I need info for Game & Watch, Ganondorf, Toon Link, ROB. Once it's posted I'll add it to this post.

Wow, Ness is the easiest character to unlock ever. Play 5 matches? TOO HARD!

Sounds good to me, sooner you unlock these characters, the sooner you get to play with them. Unlocking Mewtwo was annoying...

I remember when you had to play 1000 vs matches to get G&W, the last character in melee. Now you have to play 450 matches to unlock Wolf, the last character in brawl.

*Caps lock* Why is brawl so much easier than melee?! *One thousand exclamation marks*

I guess they put a lot in it, making less time for characters... Also they want more time for people to use Wifi or other things...

Toon Link 400 and what did you have to do to get Young Link again?

so... we could go into vs mode, 1 stock matches, and just sucide 450 times?

I never unlocked characters through VS matches, unless I just didn't care about them. It seems a lot funner to do it the other ways. Although I may just take some time to do the first 22 matches or something and practice with some characters, since it's not much. Classic should be fun also, going through with all sorts of different characters.

Hey, you're probably right, actually...

:dizzy: Why did they make Wolf so hard to unlock? That's quite frustrating.

Its not thaT hard if you do it the SSE way.

Atleast it isn't like that 24 thing for Mewtwo.

Well I read this on smashwiki under the "Did You Know Section" that all of the characters can be unlocked by playing 450 vs. matches!!! Which is what me and my buddys are gonna end up doing when we get the game just have us a weekend session and play it until we reach the 450 matches!!! It says it clear in writing if you want to know "http://smashwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page" under the did you know section on the right.

Question.

Just 1 play through of SSE guarantees you ALL characters except for Wolf, Toon and Jiggles? So if I want ALL the characters, I would need to play through SSE 3 times.

Right?

Right?
You don't have to play through it 3 separate times, but if you do the certain path that unlocks all unlockable characters in one line, then go back to 3 specific places and unlock toon link, jigglypuff, and wolf, then you have all of the characters (I'm pretty sure)
