Gamestop Posts Unofficial Boxart (W/ Sonic & Rayman)

Obviously fake, but interesting nonetheless. This is the boxart that Gamestop is using for preorders in its stores.

this boxart was a mockup made a long time ago, before the nintendo world trailer. I guess gamestop was too lazy to make thier own mockup, so they used another found on the internet.

I heard about it on gonintendo's podcast. They said they have it in the preorder book for the game.

ahah, thats not as bad as the gamestop box art they scrapped up at the store near me, its a photo shopped picture of the night sky with "SMASH BROS BRAWL" over it in times new roman text, and on the back is 2 screen shots from the dojo website under chrome filters XD

The character selection is one testament to how fake this thing is, but also the reused art. For instance, Samus's design is from Metroid Prime 3. Mario is making the same pose as he did in the trailer. Fox is his Assault art, and similar reused art can be noticed in K.K. Slider, Birdo, Petey Pirahna, Captain Falcon, Bowser Jr. and DK.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the ESRB rating, which isn't out yet

One time I watched some guy get a game case, take a used game, and put it into the non-used game case


And I saw some really ****tily shrink wrapped games in the same store...

This is misadvertising. It's wrong. Sonic, Rayman, Petey, Birdo, Bowser Jr., and KK have NOT been confirmed as playable, and by god I hope some of them aren't playable.

This makes me mad. I swear the assumptions will catch up with them on release day.

Sure, that pic may get cycled a bit around the Internet, but I'm confident that the hundreds of thousands of gamers that'll be buying Brawl will know of this ad's existence.

Unless they find it in a forum like this, in which case it'll be clearly explained how fake it is.

I reserved my copy of Brawl in a Gamestop in Midtown Manhattan. I definitely go in many of them, usually for casual browsing of console and PC games... if I'm bored or if I want to torture my gf. ;-)

But yeah, I've never seen such Brawl advertisements in the many Gamestops that litter NYC. I firmly believe this is an isolated incident unless someone found a link to this poster on Gamestop's website.

EDIT - To prove my point, check out Gamestop's Brawl page. You'll see the "official" boxart for Brawl, which I have seen in some stores.
