EVO 2015 Melee Results - Ready for Top 8

After two days of Smashing, the top 8 at EVO 2015 for Super Smash Brothers Melee has been set. For many, the early money was on C9 | @MaNg0 to take the event. While he is still alive, a 2-1 loss to @Pluplue (Sheik vs. Fox) means Mang0 needs to once again fight his way through the loser's bracket to win the event. This fact alone though should scare everyone remaining.

The crowd in the Melee hall was packed!​

All 4 Smash gods are alive along with a thirsty TSM | Leffen (past results) who is coming off his win at CEO 2015, win at BEAST 5, and a 3rd place at Apex 2015 just this year. However, his position is not nearly as solid as most believed due to a 2-0 loss to TL | @hungrybox (past results) in the winners quarterfinals. For his part, Hungrybox is once again showing fans that he isn't to be underestimated. Check out the emotional win here. Most of the Smash gods had close calls on Saturday, with Alliance's @Armada (past results) dropping a game to Silent Wolf (past results), Leffen dropping a game to @Druggedfox (past results) and both @SFAT (past results) and @HugS™ (past results) took games from @Dr Peepee (past results).

Hungrybox beats Leffen 2 - 0 in winners​

There were other surprises in the top 32 and eventual top 8 as well. TL | @sephirothken (past results) had an impressive performance, making it all the way to 13th before losing to Ice. Two other legends of Smash's Golden Age also came in hot - @HugS™ and @ChuDat (past results). Hugs lost a heartbreaking match to ChuDat just before top 8, where he was unable to hold onto a 2-stock to 1-stock (SoPo) lead with his Samus. Axe, last's years biggest attraction, also made top 8 - meaning that Mortalities decision to drop both Axe and ChuDat only weeks ago is looking like the worst timed sponsor decision of the year.

Hugs loses in heartbreaking fashion​

I'm so sad for HuGs! He came within a single missed read of beating PPMD, then lost in the worst of ways in losers. He placed 9th though, a lot better than many people would have ever credited him for. He really buckled down, I think he has what it takes to make it to the top ten ranks if he keeps up this performance.

That doesn't matter, it was still the best. Not only was it a throwback to the MLG era, but it had two of my favorite players. The intensity at the end of each game that had me on the edge of my seat.
